Out in a world so deceiving and dark.
There's one point of light.
A star in the night sky.
That I know will always be true.
When I'm bound and broken.
Crying tears of betrayal and grief.
It keeps me alive to know the truth.
That you'll cry for me when I die.
You'll worry when I'm sick.
You'll listen when I talk.
You'll laugh at my jokes.
You'll hang out with me on your own free will.
Offer encouragement when I'm hurt.
Give meaning to this dark life.
Give me will to live.
Give me a purpose, a reason for being.
Be the best friends anyone could ever have.
What have I to offer in return of such great gifts?
They're worth more than money.
More valuable than life itself.
More necessary than food.
And all I have to offer in return is this:
A promise.
A promise to always be there for you.
A promise to never let you down.
A promise to trust you with anything.
A promise to cheer you up when you're sad.
A promise to be the best friend I can be.
That is the purpose you've given me.
