I work at Toys R Us. Every year... right before halloween, company releases the official "BIG BOOK" of the season. It is essentialy a catalogue and the general census of all the must have toys and games of the year. The Big Book functions as a central wishlist for christmas time.
I know when we were growing up, there were 4 of us. We each had to have different color markers, and we'd mark up both the Toys R Us big book.. and also either a Sears or JCPenny one as well... and our parents used those as their guides as to what both they and "santa" gave us. I personally don't do the whole.. "santa" thing. lol.. but, we still do presents christmas morning. i just say they are from me. He doesn't care... it could say santa or mom... the entire concept of santa claus has just went right by him and he paid it no heed. xDDDD
but, the things that make it difficult for me at work.. is this will be my 5th season there... I am traditionally the head floor person for the morning/day shift. I generally know what we carry, where you'll find it, and in most cases what it is.. and if it's a pretty big deal. In fact, i can answer the phone at answer at least a third of all questions without even going to look.. i Just know the state of affairs in terms of stock...
I am cross trained to do almost everything in my store. I can run refunds, the Rzone (video game area), bikes, babies, apparel, and all their special events. Additionally, I know how to use most of any generally useful computer software programs.
If you were to walk into our store with a list of presents you need for say.. an assortment of children between ages of 5-12.. let's just say four boys and three girls... and, you haven't been in our store for years... They will call me to come help service you. This is the part of my job that i actually like.. This is my personal area of expertise. I make an excellent personal shopper just given my knowledge of where to find everything...
However, at christmas time... which we can just assume it is after this weekend... we'll have lots of new people who are there to help.. only noone teaches them jack crap about how to find things.. where to find them. and god forbid anyone uses hteir common sense and thinks.. geez. they want a barbie. now where in earth would you find that? oh, i dunno.. GIRLS MAYBE? stare heh. I mean.. barbie only has her own aisle.. i suppose it's hard to miss an aisle filled with that trademark barbie pink... >.<
what exacerbates all this.. is i'm helping my guest who needs my undivided help for 20 minutes... well, they are calling on the radio for a back up cashier. there is only one other person besides me on the floor who knows how to run register. that person also has 3 guests que'd up to help. and the 2 new people on the floor to help... are on teh walkies constantly asking questions to where it's pretty much we're servicing their guests over hte walkies.. on top of what we're doing.. and that my friends.. is in a nutshell what the next 2 months are going to be like.
If you're still reading this, What does this mean for you if you buy pets from one of my shops? or i own a pet in YOUR shop? or, I rp a pet of mine with you? It just means.. I will still be here and do it... Just hte amount of time i do spend here will be less.. and almost none at all on weekends. Just leave me pm's.. or notices in my work journals for the respective shops I work for. Do not leave messages for me on the mules of shops I own/work at... since I tend to frequently NOT log in on them.
