Ok. So here's the dealio for me. My dad had a stroke a few weeks ago. It was a bleed on his brain. Fast forward a few weeks, and he finally did wake up from the coma after the surgery where they were draining hte excess blood off of his brain. HOWEVER, while he's stable condition, he's mostly non responsive. He only opens his eyes for extreme pain or if family happen to be out there which hasn't been often since he's in philadelphia while the rest of us live in either detroit or kansas city. The hospital had said there wasn't anything else they could do for him medically and shipped him off to a nursing home. then, they sent him to the ER because he was running a fever. So the hospital he's at now says while they reduced the fever as much as possible, it's not going away all together. He has a blood infection as well as a staph infection. They are recommending we start hospice. Again, hospice will be difficult for now because of the distance problem. My sister looked into the ambulatory cost of moving him here, and that'd be @ 6k. none of us have even a sliver of that. There's lots other smaller and micro areas of this stituation that complicate and make it hard to get everything rolling. Since the hospital is suggesting hospice and asking if we just want them to do everything they can to make him comfortable; this is a rather blatant indication of where things stand.
How long we have is impossible to determine.. i'm going to Philly this coming weekend, so I can at least get to say goodbye should he pass before we can move him out here.
So.. if i'm not around a lot, or only posting in things here and there. you know why.. or i might all together fall off the map when things start moving, shaking, and hitting the ground running.
