"Are you sure you're up to this?"
A tired sigh left her. "I don't have a choice; I have to go, ready or not." The priestess watched with a tone of concern as Sakotai stepped gracefully onto the center floor.
Keep it cool, Sako, stay calm. You've practiced for weeks, there's no way you could mess it up now. You can do this!
Soft music resounded through the domed atrium, rising as the idle chatter of the spectators stopped. The Lei Dakoni na Heiin(Mana Goddess of Fire) stepped in time with the steadily increasing music, elaborate silks and fabrics trailing behind her in a vision of pure beauty. Every faint tap upon the grooved floor lit particular channels in bursts of life energy, each ending in a spectacular burst of lights. The audience watched in awe, subconsciously swaying with the now energetic song.
Even through all the positive energy that flooded the area, Sakotai couldn't drop her doubts. She kept her eyes closed, focusing solely on staying in time and channeling measured amounts of mana through the altar of a floor. The lectures she'd received the entire time she was rehearsing the Revival ceremony rang relentlessly in her mind, giving her no consolance.
One, two, three... Keep it steady, keep it perfect. Don't let them down.
The beat of the music sped up, Sakotai's dance responding in like. Inaudible through the festive woodwinds and percussion, her breathing also picked up its pace, trying to replenish the breath lost to her intense focus and concentration. The fountains of mana swirled and flowed into each other, covering the room in a magnificent array of luminance, now visible from miles off.
Just a little longer, don't give in. Steady breathing, steady breathing~...
A rush of relief lifted several tons from the young Deltonian's shoulders as the song finally ended, leaving only one note lingering. Sakotai stopped as well, reaching her hands to the endless night sky. "Patronai! Auril ma lei dakoni katanaku tai! (Patrons! Hear the pleading cry of this Mana Goddess!)"
The four fountains of mana surged in a final display, converging into one single beam of radiant rose light. The pillar, along with three others of differing hues from other parts of the planet, shot endlessly into the night, each of their sources hoping the Patrons would receive their prayers.
"Oh, Miss Sakotai! You were absolutely delightful! You didn't miss a single step! I'm so proud of you~!" Sakotai nodded confirmingly, continuing to walk through the hall back to the preparation room.
"Yeah... I suppose it wasn't too bad for my first time out."
((Woo! Finally decided to open one of these things, and what a way to open, ne? ^^ Hope you all like my little tidbits of my overactive fangirl imagination~...))
