I saw Sweeney Todd this afternoon!

It was really good, 'cept they really went overboard on the "graphic bloody violence" that made it rated R. I closed my eyes on the bloody parts. I really don't like the idea of someone's throat being slit; that's a really horrible way to die. Though the blood was really fake. Just really shiny bright red paint. But there was a lot of it. They probably wasted buckets on that, man!

But despite being a bloody and macabre sort of film, there was some humor in it too. I won't elaborate though, so as not to ruin the movie.

But there were some well known actors in it too. Mainly, Jonny Depp, the star, playing Sweeney Todd. But the bad guy, Judge Turpin, was played by Alan Rickman, the guy who plays Snape. And Judge Turpin's henchman, Beadle, was played by Timothy Spall, the guy who played Peter Pettigrew. Harry Potter invasion.

The songs were really good too. Jonny Depp was a pretty good singer, unless they messed around with the audio. But whatever, still sounded good. And it was fun, because it ends up that "Snape" and "Peter Pettigrew" can sing too. The boy who played Toby was an amazing singer as well, and he was rather young.

And to express my admiration for Jonny Depp. He was hot. Yes. Well, maybe not hot, but very good looking. The hair was a nice touch. And the guy who played Antony - so good looking! Fantastic voice too. And nice hair.

But overall, Sweeney Todd was a great movie, and I can see why it's been nominated for 4 Grammys, or whatever the hell it is that movies get these days. It would be worth it to buy the sound track, perhaps.

Oh, and I did not finish Sweeney Todd the book yet. It's written in Old English, with archaic and poetic vocabulary, and I have been underlining and recording the words I do not know and recording the meanings. Yes, I bothered. But as I said, I'm not finished. But the movie was completely different from the actual story. They seemed to just rip off the characters and weave their own tale with the general facts and names listed in the book. A disappointment, as I often find myself leaning towards the book rather than the movie, since the book almost always comes first. And with producers running out of ideas, they're turning to well known books. A rather easy break, since you have the story, you just have to enact it and edit as you please. (Surprised they haven't made Artemis Fowl the movie yet.) But back to the book: I'm more than half way done, though it has taken me unaccustomingly long to read this book because of my habit of multitasking and occasionally having to look up words, underline it, and write it down. So it has taken me an extraordinarily longer time than it would usually take me, as I pride myself on being a fast reader. But I am enjoying it immensely, and I recommend it to all those who have seen or want to see Sweeney Todd the movie.
