This journal entry is something I have been thinking about latly, especially since yesterday was the one year anniversary of the shootings at Virginia Tech..which is near where I live. It's reflecting on low self esteem, which some people take to the extreme and cause such tragedys. Including Columbien in 1999 and any other sadnesses that have taken place.
Self Esteem...its hard thing to come by these days
Everyday...I think everyone suffers from low self esteem
Including myself, of course.
It happens because of the littlest things..to the much bigger, more seriouse things that hit people hard.
Self Esteem is such a difficult thing to keep boosted up too.
And if I dont belong, who would have guessed it?
Its so easy to feel unwanted, unaccepted, hated...Its so easy to feel like your a nobody standing in a crowd of stangers...even amongst friends
No one will ever see, this side reflected
I think that we have low self esteem due to that we don't believe in ourselves as much as we should.
We try, but there is always someone standing near you, just to put you down again.
And you being put down brings up their self esteem.
And If there's something wrong, who would have guessed it?
Which is unfair, of course, but that is the cause of bullying. I think everyone feels like there not important sometimes, when comparing themselves to others.
Feeling as if there is noway for them to be better.
But they dont understand that they are wrong, they are them. And that person is himself or herself.
There is nothing to compare between the two.
There is no such thing as being "second-rate" to someone else.
Aren't we all equal? We all feel the same emotions and we all worry about fitting in..
Self esteem will always hard to keep, but maybe if we watched what we said around other people, and are more thoughtful about what is said..
Then maybe we can all get along better, and feel as if we belong more.
Just a little food for thought.
It's not to late, it's never to late
