The Peace-keeping Prince of Grische

`` everyone knows these facts ``

_____`` there's no need to recite my full name over and over ``
"Kal-list-ter Rhim-Sah-teen At-ray" just in case you find yourself at a loss with the pronunciation.
Why would you? Really, don't tire your tongue out with my terribly lengthy name. At the very least, do save your breath by leaving out my middle name. Ah, a nickname, you say? I don't believe I have a proper [and appropriate] nickname--but there are those fellows with thickened accents who drop the 'C' in my name so that I'm "'Alister"...but I guess that's not much of a nickname now, is it? My name usually ends up made fun of or twisted for the heck of it. I do recall being called "Kelly-star" as a child for I was, apparently, a bit feminine as a young boy. "Princess Calister" was a common one too. No, I did not run around in princess dresses or any of that silly sort but I was never into doing most masculine-defined activities [like playing in the mud or tag--which usually ended up in the mud at some point]. I also do recall one of the dear princesses of Rouxe calling me "Lester" for only God knows what silly reason she has to call me such a name. And just how do you derive "Lester" from Calister anyhow?

_____`` perhaps you would give me presents later ``
I am Seventeen--born on the Twenty-Seventh of May. Presents are nice but the presence of my loved ones to celebrate the day with me is twice as nice.

_____`` i pick what i like, even though it may be awkward at times ``
It is rather obvious that I am a male. I appreciate the beauty of women, especially the beautiful noble maidens of this world, and I prefer to be around them not with any of those disgusting, immoral intentions. I admire them in a way that they should be admired, with respect. Personality is what matters most to me, then beauty comes next in my book. Although, one usually notices outer beauty first and that's fine, who wouldn't be attracted to pretty people at first sight anyhow? Just because you have a pretty face does not mean I'll instantly fall for you. My interest revolves around mostly girls however, I don't think I would mind if a boy prettier than any princess came my way.

_____`` first impressions are based on how you look ``
Must I really talk about the way I look? Looks are not everything, I'll have you know. Lets just keep this section short and simple before we move on...

I am probably the shortest compared to my two elder brothers with a height of five feet and six inches. My skin is a natural tone of pale peach so pale that it makes me look like I have poor health, even though I do not. I am not too fond of my skin color for it really accentuates my eyes and lips--my lips appearing rosier than they should be. The pale flesh also makes it highly obvious whenever I blush, isn't that just all the more embarrassing? Ah, on the subject of colors, for some odd reason, I was born with strangely colored eyes. Overall, they are pools of a strange mix of magenta and red wine but, do look closely and you will see a glitter of goldenrod within them. According to what I have been told, it appears to be a birth defect.

With the shadows created by my messy strands of hair, the goldenrod specks give this "sparkle" if you will to my eyes. Ah, speaking of my hair, it is a deep jet black with strands that naturally stand out and up; it's not short in length but not horribly long either and I really don't do much to my hair except comb to keep it in place. Unfortunately, my hair can never cover my ears that poke out from both sides of my head. Thank goodness they're not horribly huge enough to disproportion my head. I have a very lanky and skinny build with slightly broadened shoulders and a few toned out areas. Those features, however, are hidden by the clothes I wear as I do not prefer anything that is too form fitting.

My usual choice of apparel would be a light coat with short coattails over a turtleneck tank top [or, for fancier occasions, a high collared dress shirt] and a clean pair of black, fitted dress pants [my pants are black, no matter what]. I also can never be seen without my gold chained pocket watch hanging out of my breast pocket, nor my set of projectile daggers attached to my belt [along with my rapier] and hidden underneath whatever coat I wear. When it's too hot to wear my preferred outfit, I tend to wear one of my many white, collared dress shirts [some with pinstripe designs] over black dress pants with matching shoes. I usually leave the topmost button of my shirts unbuttoned to feel comfortable unless I am in the presence of someone important. As you can tell, my clothing choice lies around the "clean-cut" sort, I am always looking brushed up and nice--partially because I have to, I am a prince after all. There is nothing special about the way I dress for my taste of clothing is nothing too flashy or avant garde. I really do not have much of a care for what style of clothing is "in or out". There are times when I feel like being a "bit" casual as you can see in my picture.

`` if only they could see what's underneath ``

_____`` diversity and quirks are what makes each person unique ``
First and foremost, I cannot stand to see people quarreling with each other over whatever matter it may be. If I have the chance to, I would step in and, taking advantage of my name, try my best to stop the two from arguing, even serve as a mediator if I have to. Most of the time, I play the peacemaker when it comes to my brothers and calm them down whenever they're heated about something. It's such a childish and immature thing to do, especially if grown-ups are doing so. Isn't that silly coming from someone like me? Even though I say that, I tend to act rather childish myself but, I try my best to tone it down--I don't want mother and father reprimanding me like a little kid, now do I? The fact that my family and kingdom do so love to pick at the kingdom of Rouxe is highly annoying; one rude comment about the kingdom of Rouxe and everyone will receive the cold shoulder from me unless it is mandatory that I speak.

Despite having said that, I am fairly obedient and loyal towards my older relatives for the most part unless a situation such as what I've mentioned occurs. I've been obedient and politeful ever since the day I could speak. Even though my limits were simply "mommy" or "daddy", my actions and movements definitely showed that my royal blood was already sinking in at such a young age. Really, I did not have a tutor of any sort back then (I couldn't even read a single word let alone talk just yet); these actions simply came almost naturally. Of course, I had help from my caretakers along with spending time observing. Eventually, I was able to respectfuly and properly address all royal figures.

So, at this point, you probably want to growl at me, thinking I'm absolutely flawless--or, dare I say such a word to describe me, "perfect". Do forgive me for bursting your bubble but I do have quirks and flaws, as does everything else in this planet. Every now and then, I end up finding myself in quite a large laughing fit that could take anywhere from a minute to five for me to stop. What? Laughing is good from time to time, lighten up yourselves a little, yes? I have a tendency to be incredibly lazy from time to time, having days where all I want to do is lie down in the comforts of my room and eventually fall asleep. I do not know why but I end up falling asleep at the most random hours of the day. Heck, I've even dozed off during important meetings, events, and even dinner! Also, I have been pointed at for having a very loud snoring problem.

I admit that I have an obsession with beautiful women and being in their presence. Maybe not literally amongst them but to watch them from a distance. Believe it or not, I tend to get a bit speechless around them, nervous that whatever I would say would come off as offensive, obviously flirtatious, and cheesy. At the very most, I would greet them properly and try to engage in generalized small-talk to break the ice. I do not intend to do anything to them along the lines of immorality. There is too much immorality in this world, an immoral sin committed hundreds of times everyday, around the world. It's disgusting. Really, why must that be the first thing to pop into someone's mind? I prefer to cherish and appreciate their beauty and not to see them as figures of sensual desires.

As much as my brothers may tease me or be so incredibly strict on me to the point that I would get frustrated with them, I do respect and love them as any little baby brother should. Like all younger siblings, I look up to them and admire their responsibilities and respect their actions. It is unfortunate that I can barely see them day by day, as they are older and carry a load of responsibilities with them due to father's wishes. I do my best to please them even though there are times when I mess up while trying to, resulting in their disappointments. Yes, they do like to scold me and get angry at me, which results in me being mad at them as well...but I cannot bring myself to stay mad at them forever. It must be hard to be the eldest and there are times when I am sure that I have been a burden to them at some point in all my seventeen years of living. It is because of them that I had the willpower and motivation to learn how to fight and defend so that, when the time comes, I can help them out and protect them.

Like my two elder brothers, I was taught to how to fight (more on that later). Do not fear, however, I won't use what I have learned for situations that can be dealt through negotiation and without violence. If I had the chance, I would rather break up a fight through talking rather than draw my rapier simply just to shut your mouth. Nothing can be accomplished if no one is listening so do pardon me if you see a shimmering blade fly past you. My apologies should it harm you in any sort. Don't forget who you're in the presence of now, I would not want to refer you to my father should the situation come down to that. As gentle as I am, I will fight and kill if needed be and if and only if it is the right thing to do. I will feel reluctant at first but it cannot be helped if the life of a loved one, an innocent, or myself, is at risk.

It may not look like it, but I can get very sensitive from time to time. If you asked my mother or caretakers, they will most likely mention all the moments when I would run to my chambers, crying because father [or one of my brothers] got mad at me. Not that I am much of a troublemaker, but father would scold me for something totally "small" like the time I picked an entire row of newly planted flowers from the courtyard. What? It made my room look nice--I could not help myself! I usually don't stay saddened or angry for a long time all thanks to my optimistic ways of thinking. If something ever dares to bother me inside, I usually would not tell anyone and, instead, keep certain thoughts to myself. I prefer to smile, laugh, and be delightful--someone anyone can approach with ease. Being genuine is the key and I want to be like that as much as I can. I don't want my status to belittle anyone. Talk to me, and I will listen to you with a smile on my face.

_____`` let me tell you the tale of my life ``
The day was the Twenty-Seventh in the month of May. Spring was coming to an end as the blistering heat of summer began to blaze throughout the world. It was extremely hot during the day and barely cold during the night. The Queen of Grische was expecting her third child at any moment as she laid in her bed with her caretakers and servants ready to aid her when the time would come. The heat was getting to her even with the fanning from her maids, making her tired and weak. As the sun began to set, turning the skies into beautiful shades of purple, orange, and deep pink red, the Queen's water had broke. For hours and hours, the Queen was in labor in her weakened state. The maids and rest of the court, worried about her health and, more importantly, her life. After five long hours of labor, the baby had finally entered the world at the very second that the sun had completely set. However, there was something fearful about this baby that did not seem right: he had an oddity about his eyes. True, they were somewhat red but the eerie shimmer of golden specks within the red that did not seem just right. A harmless birth defect did no harm, right? Wrong. Seeing the strange coloring in the baby's eyes, especially during that era and time of day, was something to be superstitious about. At that, the Queen almost cried before she ended up fainting at the sight of her strange child. The King was furious, believing this child was some kind of devil and refused to even look at him--preferring to be at his wife's side, worrying about her instead. And that was the day, on that beautiful afternoon--that was the day Calister RimSatine Atrae, the youngest prince of Grische, was born.

Because of this strange birth defect, Calister was raised in a separate section within the castle, far from the main quarters where the rest of his family lived. He spent his first five years of living with caretakers, raised with the love and care he should have had ever since the day he entered this world. Calister was always such a happy and adorable child, even as a baby, the rooms were always filled with laughter to no end. He was also fairly obedient and it did not take much to hush him if he was crying or yelling. The caretakers also made an attempt to teach him how to speak by reading simple stories within picture books to him. Since he rarely, if ever, saw his family, the caretakers surrounded his temporary rooms with photographs of his mother and father as well as his two older brothers. All of this paid off for the young boy of two and a half years old, when he finally learned how to walk on his own. Though he was still too young to comprehend a lot of things, little Calister did know quite a few things a child of his age wouldn't know just yet. There was one day where his mother and father decided to check on him; the thought of the outcome of their son to be just as odd as his eyes painted in their minds. As the doors opened and the King and Queen entered, the first to greet them was Calister, scuttling up to them on his tiny feet. At that moment, he immediately bowed before them as best he could and surprised his parents. How? The picture books may not have taught him to speak just yet but a few stories did depict kingdom fairytales, there was bound to be a picture of a king and queen being bowed to. Despite how normal their son was, they did not want him to return to the main area of the castle for, whatever his caretakers were doing was pretty effective. Ever since that day, the next two and final years that Calister spent in the secluded sections of the castle, he was taught how to speak, write, and read. Finally, upon reaching the age of five, he was accepted to live amongst the rest of his family members.

Just because he was allowed to live with his family did not mean the rest of his life was an easy walk in the park. Living with his parents and underneath their guidance, meant strict discipline as all royal offsprings were to receive. Calister was happy to be around his parents and respected them as best he could but, rarely did any of those feelings return. He did not, and never knew why they were so cold towards him. Despite how distant they were towards their youngest son but that did not stop them from hiring people to tutor and turn him into a proper prince. His strengths, out of all the subjects he was taught, were speech and reading. That did not mean his weaknesses were found in the other subjects--the boy was fairly fast at learning whatever he was taught, easily understanding the daily lessons he received. He was especially fast at learning manners and being polite; the etiquette lessons he received definitely shaped and molded his young mind to think and act more like a gentleman each day. The amount of lessons he had each day were overwhelming and would cause young Calister to almost cry from so much work. He did not want to quit, even though it was hard work, the young prince endured all of it so that he could please his parents. As he grew, so did his mind and his personality, growing to realize the importance of his status and how important his older brothers and parents were. His respect and loyalty grew for his family as well--his brothers especially. With all the pressure they have as the eldest, one of which was to obviously set a good influence on their youngest brother, Calister's determination rose due to the respect and understanding of their hard work. Of course, he also wanted to benefit himself and be ready for future purposes as well.

Of course, in between his numerous lessons, Calister was allowed to have time to himself, spending it however he wanted. Every chance he had, the young prince spent his time with other noble children only if his two brothers were too busy to deal with him--which was a majority of the time. He never approved of running around in the fields and soiling his clothes like the other boys would. As many times as the boys would try to invite him to play with them, Calister always refused. Some of the boys laughed and poked fun at him constantly; it was around this time that he received nicknames such as "Kelly-star" and the popular-used "Princess Calister". Instead, young Calister preferred socializing with the other noble children (a majority of them being girls) who chose to have simple, more refined activities. As he spent more and more time with the noble daughters, his appreciation for females began to develop seeing how he never had a bad moment when he was around them. Often times, Calister had the chance to meet the Rouxe princesses and, though he only managed to spend a short amount of time with them, he only saw them as kind figures. He enjoyed playing and socializing with most of them whenever he could. Hearing all the negative comments his mother and father usually made about the Rouxe kingdom broke the young prince's heart. How could they say such awful things about this innocent family? He never knew why or how this hatred came to be but, he wanted it to stop--though what could he do? Calister couldn't bring himself to say or do anything that would displease his family and instead, he merely kept his comments to himself.

Finally, the fun and games stopped once the King scheduled daily training sessions for Calister that went from immediately after breakfast hours in the morning to a tad before sunset. The training consisted of various activities, most of which had to do with running and basic combat skills. Of course, as the prince began to grow and near his teens, his training became more serious. Fencing lessons and horseback riding became part of his daily training and the scheduled hours began to increase to the point where he could barely fit his academic learning sessions in a day. He did not mind, figuring it was his father's wishes for him to be strong like his elder brothers. Calister did promise to himself that he would do his best to make everyone proud. To prevent his knowledge from declining, Calister would spend the late hours of the night studying and making sure he was catching up in his studies. During his training sessions did his true skills began to peek through. The trainers were shocked when they saw how accurate and precise his movements were when he spent a short two week crash course in archery and ballroom dancing. The first few times around, Calister was a bit shocked to find out how amazing his eyesight was, along with his coordination skills. The trainers confirmed that the boy was a natural long-ranged fighter, with disappointed thoughts of spending almost a year teaching him to be a short-ranged one. Upon the received news, the King was pleased about his son's improvement and, as a result, gave the boy a beautiful crossbow made of the finest materials for his twelfth birthday. On top of the crossbow, he also cancelled fencing lessons and replaced them with numerous archery lessons specializing in using the crossbow. True, Calister knew it was for defensive purposes but the King also gave it to him, in hopes that it would motivate him to continue with his lessons and hone his fighting skills. A year later, the King was a tad disappointed to hear that the young prince took a liking to throwing projectiles and requested for such objects as they would come in handy in tight situations. Eventually, he gave in and reluctantly gave his son a set of eight throwing daggers with the condition that Calister was to continue his archery lessons and not use the daggers within the castle walls. To have knowledge in two weapons made for his ideal area of range, the young prince knew he had to train harder to use both weapons effectively.

Years passed, and Calister had finally turned seventeen. Nothing eventful really happened asides from how mature he came to be. The King and Queen slowly began to spend more time with him when they possibly could now that they figured Calister's eyes were nothing but a harmless birth defect. Things seemed to be lightening up for the youngest prince...till the news of the stolen jewelry broke out and swept through the kingdom like a storm. Oh it was a storm alright, especially with the King's temper thrown about, his anger unleashed towards the kingdom of Rouxe when only God knows who the real thieves were. Due to the situation, the family stopped socializing with the royal family of Rouxe out of anger. For Calister, who could not bring himself to hate the family and the princesses let alone immediately blame them, this meant his mother and father would never allow him to see the princesses ever again. Even when the Vahnzenge announced that they had the precious piece of jewelry in their possession, it did not stop the King from his constant blaming on Rouxe. The youngest prince wanted to smile out of relief that it was not the Rouxe kingdom but, his smile would soon disappear as a decision was reached for the children from both kingdoms to be sent out on a mission to retrieve the jewelry. However, the King had an extra task for his sons, and that was to put their trained assassin skills to use. It was obvious that their targets were the princesses of Rouxe and none of the three princes could say no to their father's order--not even Calister. How could he do such a thing? At this point, he was backed into a corner and could not escape or turn his back on his family. In other words, Calister could not disobey his father and painfully accepted the mission. The King most likely noticed how reluctant his youngest son was to the entire plan but trusted the two oldest to make sure their baby brother's heart would not begin to waver and sway.

_____`` some may not understand the reasons why i like them ``

+Being surrounded by [pretty] girls--and, again, it's not for that.
+White Chocolate and sweets in general. Just not too much of them, please.
+Drawing whenever I have the time to do so.
+Silence. Now who wouldn't want that after being scolded at for my mistakes during tutor sessions.
+Hot black tea with condensed milk. Make sure it is piping hot! That is when tea is most enjoyable and flavorful, no?
+Classical Music or violin solos. Really, if father wasn't so determined to turn me into a skilled fighter, I would have taken up violin lessons and spend five hours each day learning that. Ah well, the least I could do is appreciate such beautiful melodies.
+Birds; mute swans and peacocks to be specific.
+Spending time at night to look at the moon when I don't feel the need to catch up on my studies.
    +White Wine and Chardonnay.
+Random bouquets of flowers--my room is filled with them. Flowers are lovely and I do not see why I cannot enjoy them to such an extent, even if I am not a girl.
+The occasional, lavish parties that my family throws.
+Candlelight, especially when it's the only light to light up a darkened room.

_____`` things like these annoy me to no end ``
+Whenever there is tension amongst my elder brothers and family members.
    +Loud, obnoxious people.
    +Cruelty.
    +Violence.
    +Hatred.
    +Inequality.
+Being lied to (deception). Don't even try to lie to me, I will find out soon enough.
+Sounds I find cacophonous--breaking glass, off-key voices and instruments, sharp screeches...you get the picture.
+Heavily alcoholic drinks. Offer me a glass and I can guarantee you that your clothes won't be so dry in a short matter of seconds.

_____`` keep them away, as far away as you possibly can ``

+Buzzing insects and bugs--if they make noises, they are officially scary.
    +Rot[ting/ten] fruits.
    +Completely dark places.
    +Being totally alone.
    +Stalkers.
+Poisonous creatures like those brightly colored Amazonian frogs.
    +Blackmail.

`` some things are better left unknown ``

_____`` anything is deadly in the hands of a trained assassin ``
For my twelfth birthday, I received a crossbow as a present from my father. A beautiful, and rather heavy, weapon of steel it is with a handle plated in silver with gold markings and my name lightly engraved upon it. Its design allows me to fold it up into something that may be mistaken as an odd-looking sword. They figured I would need it should anything terribly dangerous or threatening occur in the future. With the agreement to take archery lessons so that I would know how to use the crossbow (as well as a regular bow and arrow set), I was allowed to carry it around with me at my belt, sheathed unless told otherwise. Though my main strength lies along the family of bows and arrows, I later took a liking to throwing projectiles after a quick game of darts with a few noble fellows. After much negotiation with my parents, I was given a set of eight throwing daggers. The daggers vary in size with the smallest at one and a half inches long and each dagger is longer by one more inch. However, I would never abandon the crossbow--otherwise, it would be disrespectful, wasting my parent's time in arranging my archery lessons to fit with my schedule. However, anything can be deadly if I put it to correct use, no? So don't . I might as well spend a good hour or two learning how to wield another weapon and use it to my advantage. Such is that of a quick learner such as myself. Anything long ranged will do, namely, bows and arrows or possibly a javelin to lunge into the air from afar. Come to think of it, if dear eldest brother ever asked me to take his rifle (let alone spend time teaching me at some point in our lives) and defend myself with it, I am pretty sure I'll nab the target. It may not be dead on or enough to instantly kill them, but it will hurt and that's for sure.

_____`` everyone is special in their own strange way ``
I am not perfect, but I sure do know quite a few things--one could call me...multi-talented.
As you may already know, I am very good when it comes to aiming projectiles all thanks to my sharp vision and keen eye. I started to notice this little trait of mine during my archery lessons, even on my first day, I managed to shoot the arrow a speck close to the center of the target. In attempt to make my lessons more difficult on me, I was trained to hit targets that were placed hundreds of feet before me. Some of these targets were even camouflaged just to test the extent of my vision. I must admit, I was not able to seek out every target but lets just say that I managed to nab about ninety-percent of those targets, camouflaged or not.

I can easily notice all the details and elaborations on the intricately designed dresses the princesses wear when I see them or even point out the exact motion in which a bird moves its wings as it flies. My sense of sight is, as one would put it, "amazing"; I can easily tell if something is made out of satin or simple cloth without touching it. Reading standard sized print font whilst standing ten or so feet away can easily be done with ease. Do I wear glasses or contacts? I don't believe I do. I cannot say my vision is perfect for no one is perfect, after all.

I am a bit of a quick learner and I'm sure it's been hinted quite a few times as of now. Learning the ballroom dances [Viennese Waltz & Foxtrot] I love so much took me a mere month to get down step by step. Though, it has been a while since I've danced, how unfortunate no? After two weeks of lessons, I've become pretty professional when it comes to horseback riding. According to my instructor, it was my smooth and pleasant voice that calms the horses down and my strength that allowed me to control them. However, my skills in riding a horse is not the biggest skill compared to what my voice and calming look do for me. I can easily get myself out of trouble or get someone to calm down with one sound of my voice. I've been constantly praised for being blessed with a smooth voice that sounds "as if an angel is speaking". Apparently, I can make girls swoon with a simple "Hello"...but that's just a rumor to me for I must have been oblivious to such a scene. Really, not much effort goes in when I talk the way I do. I don't even have to sing to catch someone's attention--thank goodness for that, surprisingly, singing is one of the many things that I cannot do.

`` trivial matters seem to interest many ``

_____`` small yet interesting details you could always miss ``
During the early mornings, I leave the castle to head for the lakes just outside the castle moats. Why, you may ask? Every morning, there is always a large flock of swans that come to the lakes at a certain time for only a few minutes. It's so peaceful and such a serene scene, just me and beautiful white swans on the glistening waters of the lakes, such a scene calms me down. Most of the time I carry little bits of crumbs to feed them for, when I was young, I was told that if I never feed the swans...they would never come back. Hopefully, I could start all my mornings like this.

_____`` some define me and some just sound good ``

_____`` the beautiful colors i use on my canvas as i paint ``
Dark Slate Blue for overall/narraration text.
    Cornflower Blue for speech.
    Dullen Plum for thoughts.

_____`` a person is always guiding me from the shadows ``
Everyone should respect this lovely lady for she is the reason I exist and I am truly glad to have her ever so vigilant eyes watch over me. Her name is Mikanne and I do hope you treat her with the utmost sincere respect. Really, I am sure you do not want to find a dagger heading straight for your head now do you?

Wow, Mikanne-chan! This is impressive, and detailed. I love how he is speaking about himself and not just you speaking about him. That's a great way to get into character.

He sounds interesting, I haven't read everything... as it's fairly long. But I gave you props for that. However I wonder how your brain must feel afterward.

I am almost inspired to do something similar for our current randomly made Pokemon Roleplay for my characters roleplay. I am having a hard time getting into a character that I just kinda made up a name for and picked out a picture. She needs a quirk or something. I already have something for her Pokemon, in a sence. For example, her chansey. I mentioned that to you - how she's the "nurse".. well, that's how she'll act. Like an actual Pokemon form of Nurse Joy. Possibly be afraid of water type pokemon just for kicks.
