Have you ever seen a thread like this, where someone under the influence of something feels the need to announce it to the entire forum? These show up in the GD a lot, and generally the thread creator ends up looking like a complete moron and winces the next day when they check their latest posts.
This brings up a few questions.
Why do people feel the need to announce lack of sobriety to the entire forum?
Honestly, just regular posting will do it, because it will show in typing. And nobody but the people that know them will really care either way.
Are people more forgiving of this kind of behavior in users who are known/prominent in a given forum?
I'd say yes. A complete newbie who makes this thread in the GD will be called a drunken moron and pointed to the Chatterbox. Someone who's known there has a good chance of people laughing it off and asking what they drank, and such.
What are the consequences of nonsober posting?
You'll almost definitely make yourself look stupid, and maybe get a warning/moved topic for spam.
Discussion-ness. There are the questions above, plus a few more.
-Have you ever posted under the influence?
-If so, did anything happen that you regretted later?
-How would you react to a friend posting while trashed beyond reason?
-How do nonsober posters affect the community in general?

I don't generally care if someone is drunk on Gaia and acting like an idiot because I can't really tell the difference between people who are idiots because they are drunk and the idiots who are just well.. idiots.
As for ever being drunk myself here on Gaia.. No. I'm 21 and I do not drink period. I wouldn't have any friends drunk and acting like a fool on Gaia either, because I simply don't associate with people like that. Some people have told me that I'm a 'goody-goody' for thinking that way. I tell them I'm not, I'm just above them neutral
