My journal is going to ruin any fun you had over the weekend, it was that ********. I know you guys are going to read it anyway, but I just thought I'd tell you.

June 30th:
-Soccer
-Drove down to Gram's
-Slept (it was late)

July 1st:
-Sat on the couch alll day, playing Pokemon while dad was at the hospital
-Got a call from Aunt Audrey asking us to go to the Lumberjack Show (run by Tina, her roomie who was on Survivor)
-Get ready + picked up
-Driven to the hospital to pick up our cousins Kyle (10) and Alyssa (3) for the show. In case you guys didn't know, the whole reason we went down there was because my Aunt Jackie was dying from cancer. She's gotten it dozens of times before and she was finally getting better but it came back twice as bad and she was put on a morphine drip so she wouldn't die in pain. She was a really kind person, like Jasmine, and gave me Paperback certificates every Christmas.
-Audrey asks Jenny and I if we want to go all the way in the room (because there's the room and then a waiting room outside) and I agree.

Have you ever seen a corpse? It was kind of like that. I don't want to scare anyone, so I'll leave it at that. But let's just say that I'm going to remember it for the rest of my life. I was shocked how much it ravaged her.

-Look over at Jenny: she looks...scared? Possibly. Didn't know what she was getting into. She refused to hold Jackie's swollen hand when I went over to.
-Spend a few minutes talking to my comatose corpse friend, then we take the cousins from their parents to the show
-Have fun. Kyle jokes with Jenny and Alyssa, for some strange reason, attaches herself to me. She holds my hand whenever we walked somewhere and I fed her half of my M&M's. Watched buff guys and Tina go thru the routine then invite up the kids at the end.
-Go back to the hospital around nine. Hang out with Kyle and Alyssa in the waiting room. Kyle asks what's in my Gameboy, I tell him, and he says, "And HOW old are you?"
- crying
-Leave
-Deer runs across the road, we almost hit it
-When we get home to Gram's, the parents are at Alice and Bruce's campsite at Hadley, so we wait for them to come home
-Sleep
-Phone rings in the middle of the night but I'm half dead so I don't really hear it..I just think it's a dream. Them Gram starts talking and saying stuff like "Are you going to be okay?" and other questions and I mumble yesses and stuff before she hangs up and I realize she was talking to someone else and not me.
-Have to go upstairs and tell mum and dad that Jackie is dead.
-Check the time: 3:34.
-Didn't get to sleep after that.

July 2nd:
-Go to my mom's parent's house up in Centerville
-Hang out playing Pokemon and getting fawned over
-Papa takes Jenny and I out to look at graves (fated morbid week?)
-It was actually interesting because he told us about his childhood in the depression and how all the wooded area used to be field and that there used to be hundreds of people living there, and now there's only thirteen.
-Pass a rusted old bubble car that's a deep rusty color. Just the shell of metal caging, but it looks pretty sweet, and it's abandoned in this ditch in the middle of the woods.
-First site is in the woods and all of the deaths are in the 1860's and 1870's. eek
-Looked at them for a while. It was like a blast from the past, y'know? Mossy, old, one was knocked from its base awkwardly like someone had purposely moved it. Two of them had flags and decorations on them because they died in the war, and since my papa is a veteran himself he goes to all the gravesites every year and honors the soldiers.
-Left when mosquitos were eating us alive
-Jack rabbit runs across the road
-Go on to dirt trails in Papa's big a** white truck that are overgrown with weeds and vegetation.
-Porcupine crosses right in front of the truck, sits down in the road, and starts eating some grass. What a b***h... >_>
-Visit another site, this one varying times in the 1900's. Lots of war veterans from WWI and WWII. Not as interesting as the first one, but still cool.
-Go back to the house
-Eat some pistachio cake
-Go to Gram's, wait for everyone to go to sleep so I can, too (my bed has no room for it because it's pushed in a corner of the computer room that has doors to all the rest of the house connecting to it, so I can't get any sleep unless everyone else goes to bed.)
-Sleep

July 3rd:
-Laze about
-Go to the campsite and eat lobster that dad cracked for me. Very good. I never realized how good the sweet smell of alcohol and hot seafood mix together.
-On the car ride back I get to listen to my parents talking about how Jackie's only just died, but everyone's already fighting over her stuff even though she left a will. They threw out her wigs and pills already. No one will leave Uncle Bernie alone. He's not a morning person but people are coming over at eight and staying until it's dark out, and he's too nice a person to turn anyone away. Moreover, Audrey and Jackie's daughter are fighting over all her possessions and Jackie's daughter wants their camp, even though Bernie paid for it with his own money. Even Gram is telling Cathy (her nurse) to go through Bernie's old room upstairs at Gram's house and sift through his possessions, so much though that he locked the door up there.
-Didn't sleep that night either.

July 4th:
-Had cocoa and a donut
-We were about to leave when Jenny and dad start fighting and kicking and screaming at eachother and by then I was at my limit. I thought about screaming too as the fight was escalating but instead I just unbuckled, got out of the car, and started walking away.
-Got about half a mile before dad catches up. Wanted him to yell at me but instead he tells me how sorry he is. I go back.
-Everyone gets back in the car. I play Pokemon for the three hour drive home and listen to Max scream (he hates cars).
-We get home, I got up to my room and sleep for three hours.
-Wake up, and everyone's acting the same again. Why is it that people say I'M the one with the memory of a goldfish?




Instead of watching fireworks, I got to visit a good friend just before she died and watch the worst of my horrible family unfold.

So what have I learned over this "vacation"?

I could only think of one fitting conclusion:

People are disgusting.

And that's basically it. smile
