Chapter One: The Transformation
A small, black-haired child's blue eyes stared off into the distance, but quickly moved when she saw a shadow over her. Turning to the teacher, who had whipt her with the yardstick she was holding, she stared at her for a moment, before turning back to the window. The teacher started to lecture her, but it seemed as though she wasn't listening. She just continued staring, staring at the window. Or through the window, maybe, it was safe to assume either. However, then people started to shuffle out, apparently the bell had rung, so the child followed the crowd towards the exit of the school. She was promptly greeted by two others, it was hard to tell who they were, though. It was obvious the women had black hair, and the man had blonde hair and blue eyes. The child's parents, one could guess.
Eyes opening, a girl, by the looks of it seventeen, sat up, pushing her black hair behind her. There was a ringing at the door, and a small red light near it blinked on and off, and the girl answered the door quickly, obviously having no thought for her appearance. She wore a white pajama top with black specks near the bottom, and a black pajama bottoms. Standing barefoot at the door, she opened it to no one. Assuming it was just someone pulling a prank, she closed the door and walked away. When she turned away, however, she was greeted by a person, or thing, with black ears and tail. She stared with her with narrow yellow eyes, and written across the window was what she proposed.
"One that cannot hear the pain of others, I shall endow the ability to you. If thou shalt bestow to me the power to cause pain. If thou does as I propose, one that cannot speak the feelings of pain, I shall grant you that ability as well. If thou shalt give me the power to erase pain. However, one that cannot feel pain itself, I can do nothing for you." The cat person continued writing on the window, grinning. "Unless thou bestows me thine own body."
The girl cracked a smile, a nervous, broken smile as she nodded, as if understanding. Her silver eyes started to cry as she watched the women, her legs moving swiftly as she hugged the younger girl, then kissed her on the lips, knowing, even without feeling, that she could feel it in other ways. "Better, Yumei-chan?" When she whispered it in her soft, loving voice, the girl dug her face into the girl's shirt, hugging and crying, like a small six-year old.
"And you," the women whispered, "shall be my new vessel." She smiled, and the girl continued to cry, now both relieved, hopeful, and terrified.
"Such beautiful eyes this young one has." She smiled and lifted the girl's head up, watching her silver eyes as they cried. "She will also be the one to stay with me." Her smile turned into a grin on her pale face, and her fingers skimmed over her cherry red lips, long nails feeling them smoothly.
