Pale hands moved across a small notepad as Yumei wrote down a question. "What is my name?" The cat girl stared at her for a moment, and she stared back, her eyes widening as she noticed something. The girl was speaking, but her lips were not moving, her mouth was not even opening. "Kojimi," she said, "but you may call me Ji-sama. If we get that far." She grinned and floated over to the bed, flying, but at the same time, not. However, she floated over to Yumei quickly as she started writing and stopped her, grabbing her pencil. "I won't tell you." She smirked, making a cat-like gesture at her own ears. Yumei set the pencil down and watched this new being, wondering what she was planning. "Don't you have school or something? We'll start your new job tomorrow." Yumei glanced at the clock, six thirty, she could probably get there on time if she walked quick enough. "Not too fast," Ji said, pointing to her chest, near her heart, "or that frail body might give in." Yumei smiled, a truly loving smile, and nodded, quickly slipping into a shirt, jeans, and sneakers, then rushing off with her messenger bag.
However, her personality, although a bit happier, was still rather dark and eerie. She was getting a terrible headache, an increasing one, having to listen to everyone speaking. She was used to lips moving, but not words coming out of them. It wasn't like she couldn't understand them though, she had read quite a lot of books to occupy her time. That, and spent her time on the internet. They had a school website one of the students had created, and she often read it, interested in what they talked about. There were plenty of rumors going around about her, wondering if she really was deaf and mute. No one knew about her inability to feel, but that was fine, they didn't have to know that.
Entering the school just before the gate closed, she saw the two closing it glance at her worriedly, as if scared or confused. "It's her." The boy muttered, and the girl glared at him. "Don't talk like that, she can probably hear you. Besides, it's still rude, she's still human." The girl scolded, and when Yumei glanced at her, she flinched, surprised, but after she left the boy, she smiled to herself. However, Yumei was already at class by then. The man, Mr. Rune, was talking about math, but he had given her a sheet that had the entire days lessons on it. She mentally sighed as she filled it out, already having read through the chapter section, and knew what to do. However, while she worked, she listened, mentally grinning to herself, knowing that no one else knew. However, she knew she was reacting differently, noticing things she'd never noticed before. Watching the teacher more if he spoke, and noticing when people talked, or mentioned her name, or whispered. However, she tried her hardest not to notice.
"Yumei." Someone called, touching her on the shoulder. She, however, didn't move, but glanced over to the shadow. It was the girl from earlier, the one at the gate. Her hair was beautiful, even though it was dyed purple. She wore an aquamarine sweater and lolita-like short skirt. Her boots reached past her knees and were inch long platforms. Her eyes were black and large. "Can you really hear me?" She asked, and smiled as Yumei nodded reluctantly. "So you can! Here, search me, alright? I'll speak with you online. Oh, by the way, I'm Suri Reise, I'm in your fourth period class." She smiled and walked off, leaving the small piece of paper in the girl's hands. Staring at the piece of paper, she closed her locker and slipped the paper into her pocket. Clicking the lock shut, she walked away, leaving the school a few minutes after the others, so there was less of a crowd.
Walking home, to the small white house with a black roof, she entered to no one. Glancing around, she could not find Ji. However curious she was though, she didn't bother. It was not a dream, that she was sure of, but there was no where she knew of looking. She barely knew the person, so there was no way of knowing, and she knew she would come back. Sitting down, she turned on her computer and logged into her account on the internet. Right when she sent a message to Suri, stating only her name, she replied through instant message. When you register for the website, your username should be a color and an animal, just to make things interesting.
Purple Mongoose has sent a message. Open it? Yes No
Purple Mongoose: Yumei-san? Is that you?
Clear Cat: Yes.
Purple Mongoose: Ooh, mysterious name you have there!
Clear Cat: ...
Purple Mongoose: Anyway, you're so quiet at school, I figured you might talk online.
Clear Cat: It's not my choice.
Purple Mongoose: Hmm? What do you mean?
Clear Cat: My speech, I didn't choose not to have it. I was born that way.
Purple Mongoose: So you are mute? What about your hearing, you nodded to me, but we all thought you were deaf.
Clear Cat: That is none of your business.
Purple Mongoose: You have me there. I was just wondering, though, because no one has seen you respond to anything- until today, that is. Did something happen?
Clear Cat has logged off.
