The boy's name is Austin Reed. He's fourteen, and gets in trouble where ever he goes. His mother died when he was five. She was a drug addict, and never really was apart of his life. His father, also a drug addict, can't take care of him any longer, so he goes to Issaquah, Washington to live with his uncle, Ricky. He enters his second year of 8th grade at Issaquah Elementary. Austin quickly makes friends with a boy named Erin Black, who claimes the "bad boy" title of the school. Since so prone to trouble and rule-breaking, Austin and Erin make chaos of the school. Austin becomes the worst bully, along with Erin.
He soon notices a girl in his Science class, and begins to crush on her. He thinks she's too good for him, she's smart, good hearted, always chearful, and is amazingly nice when she talks to him. Madeline Carson, thirteen years old, would have nothing to do with a bully like Austin, but that is terribly wrong. Madeline talks to Austin more and more each day, and they grow more attached to eachother. Lots of girls sneer and make rude comments behind Madeline's back, but make sure to keep it out of Austin's earshot.
