The wipeout was on my bicycle. I was going over the overpass that bridges the railroad tracks near my school, which is closed in by a chain link fence. I wasn't paying attention, overbalanced on one side and the handlebar caught in the fence. I completely lost control and went down. Good think I was wearing jeans; it would have been a lot worse otherwise. As it was, I was wearing flip flops, so the four small toes on my right foot got scraped up, bruised the knee on that side, got three straight claw-like slices in my right hand, and an abrasion up near the elbow. I limped my way to Student Health (because they couldn't possibly mess up something this easy-and they didn't) and they signed me in. The doctor who saw me was the same one who examined me three years ago when I got hit by a car while riding my-yes, my bicycle again. At least he had the good grace to finish examining my body before asked about my bike. rolleyes
For the entire week before this encounter, I thought a cold was kicking my butt. My throat was swollen, my nose was alternately stuffed, runny, and congested, and I just felt awful. I finally went in to Student Health the day after the bike crash (they were sooo happy to see me again), and after doing blood work they determined that I had had nothing more than an allergic reaction. I've never been allergic to anything in my life! Twenty-four years, and now suddenly I'm allergic to something?! My mom thinks it might be just seasonal allergies, since she and about five other people on that side of the family also do, and for her it showed up in her twenties. Joy. sweatdrop
