Jerry and Rachel are two strangers thrown together by a mysterious phone call from a woman they have never met. Threatening their lives and family, she pushes Jerry and Rachel into a series of increasingly dangerous situations, using the technology of everyday life to track and control their every move.
The plot is totally nonsensical but is played at such a thrilling pace that it barely matters. - Sun Online
Enjoyable, fast-paced thriller that compensates for its increasingly ridiculous plot with strong performances, great direction and some terrific action sequences. - ViewLondon
As well as being the most preposterously plotted action flick of this or any year, Eagle Eye is a prime example of technophobia at its most hypocritical. - Daily Telegraph
This numbskull knock-off of 2001: A Space Odyssey and Enemy of the State has the unlikely effect of making Tony Scott look like Alfred Hitchcock. - Sky Movies
This was onto a loser before it even started if I'm honest. I am not a big fan of Shia Lebeouf in the first place and his insipid rise to Hollywood stardom on the back of mostly dreadful pictures (or dreadful performances) seems a little too orchestrated for my liking.
Saying this, however, I have greatly enjoyed the work of Michelle Monaghan lately, particularly in Gone Baby Gone, and she is just as impressive here.
The story is a familiar one; We have an innocent average joe hero, who does not know his place in the scheme of things and is genuinely surprised to find a huge sum of money in his bank account.
Then the mysterious phone calls begin, from an even moe mysterious woman. Events transpire to pull Lebeouf and Monaghan together as they try to stop a nationwide catasatrophe.
What the films lacks in plot and characterisation, it makes up for in balls-out action.
It is indeed a rollercoaster for much of the film, although the reveal comes way too early and even then, it is way too obvious.
Certainly entertaining, just don't go into this expecting too much common sense, and you'll be fine.
