Half-Breed Ch.1
New Year

It was the start of a new school year, my heart was pounding and I was so nervous I couldn’t walk straight. My name is Crysstal Snow I was a new student at Bridegeway High, I just moved into the town of Bridgeway and I was hoping for a new start. I wasn’t the most popular girl at my old school, I always got into so many fights that I practically lived at home, no one really liked me so I had no friends but that’s all going to change….I hope. I walked into first period and my knees were shaking beneath me, I heard a few giggles from the back of the room. I felt someone’s hand on my shoulder and I flinched a bit I looked up to see a tall man with snow-white hair. “Class this is our new student so lets give her a warm welcome.” I shrugged my shoulder to make his hand slide off and I walked to the seat near the back of the room. Every school was the same a hundred and eighty days of torture, oh well guess its going to be another boring year. First period wasn’t so bad it went by fast. When the bell rang I quickly went out the door and headed for my locker, carrying all my books in my arms and my head down. I was suddenly on my back with a massive headache. “What hit me?” I felt someone’s hand around my wrist, “Oh my god are you okay?” I was pulled on my feet and I rubbed my head. “Yea I’m fine. “I looked up to see a boy who was around my age and he was Fran tingly picking up my books. “I’m so sorry, I wasn’t looking,” I cleared my throat and picked up the rest of my books. “Its fine there’s no need to be sorry.” He handed me the rest of my books and escorted me to my locker. “You know you don’t have to follow me,” he shrugged and laughed a bit. “Just wanted to make sure you were okay, by the way you new here?” I nodded my head as I put my books in my locker. “Yea just moved here.” He lifted and eyebrow and smiled. “That’s cool, make any friends yet,” I slammed my locker shut and shook my head. “Never had one,” he nudged me and laughed. “Then I guess I’m your first, my name is Shade Black,” he held out his hand for a handshake, I hesitated for a minute then reached out for his hand, I quickly pulled it back, shaking my head. “No, no, I can’t.” I smacked his hand away and ran off.

The rest of school wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, Shade was in three of my periods and all he did was stare at me with a puzzled look. After school I walked down the main step of the school and I heard a familiar voice calling my name. “Cryss, hey Cryss wait up!” I picked up the pace trying to get away, I kept hearing that voice until I got to my dad’s car then I felt a hand on my shoulder. “Can you explain why?” I shrugged his hand off and turned around, a growl forming at the base of my throat. “I cant make friends cause I end up losing them in the end!” I didn’t want to see the look on his face, but I knew it wasn’t’ good. I quickly got in the car. On the car ride home my dad kept asking me about Shade and why I yelled at him, I just turned my MP3 player on high and ignored him. The moment we got home I quickly ran up to my room and jumped into my bad, putting my boom box on loud to block out any sounds. A lot of things have happened in my life, but I’m just afraid that I might end up hurting Shade instead of getting him to like me. My boom box was shut off, “Cryss honey, there’s someone here to see you.” I scoffed in disgust and gave him thumbs up to let the guy or girl in. “You know it wasn’t very nice what you did to me at school today.” I recognized the voice, but didn’t bother to look up. “Why did you follow me, you a stalker or something?” he gripped my ankle and I looked up at him, growling a bit. “Look I know I only knew you for a day, but I wanted to check on you, why don’t you want me to be your friend?” I bit my lower lip and I could feel tears form at the rims of my eyes. “Every time I make a friend, I always end up losing them or they hate me for some reason to walk away from me.” He held out his hand to me and I met his gaze, “It’s not that I don’t want to be your friend, I just don’t want to be hurt again.” He placed his hand on my shoulder and locked eyes with me. “I’m not like that Cryss, I won’t abandon you,” he ruffled my hair and handed me a piece of paper. “Here if you want to come I’m inviting you.” He ruffled my hair one last time and left the room. I looked down at the paper and it was an invite to a bonfire at his place might, as well go, don’t want to hurt his feelings.
