Plus: Most of the following information has been confirmed by Square Enix, or is strongly supported by evidence from game play pictures/scans. A couple are my own personal opinions. You’ll be able to tell what’s speculation and what’s truth, trust me, I made it semi, sorta, kinda, obvious!
Ello again! This edition of Speaking of Which! is all about Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days.
The title has been confirmed by Tetsuya Nomura as a sort of code that the player won’t fully understand until they complete the game. The word Days symbolizes the daily life of the Organization. One of the main plot features is the reason why Roxas left the Organization. The central theme, however, is memories. Because Organization 13 has no hearts, which so far in the KH series has been the main feature, they hold their memories very dear to them.
And now onto the mysterious element of the game: the 14th member!
Her name is Xion, or at least that’s what she’s called by Namine. She’s a key character, and even though she joins Organization 13 as it’s 14th member, it retains its original name. She also is never given a pillar. Nomura said this would be explained in the game. He also described her as a tragic hero brave and a major influence on Roxas’ future actions. In a recent trailer, Axel is confronting Xion in front of the Old Mansion in Twilight Town. He tells her, “I’ll bring you back, no matter how many times it takes!” In Japanese, the “you” was plural. Nomura explained that this is connected to what Axel said to Roxas in the beginning of KH2. She wields a Keyblade, on top of all of that, and not just any Keyblade; THE KINGDOM KEY! In a recent trailer, Riku is seen telling Xion she can’t hope to beat him with a “fake” Keyblade. Nomura has also stated her regrets the release of Xion's voice, because with it, people will be able to guess who she's connected with. surprised
Now, onto the Worlds. The relationships between people in the worlds will be different this time around as you go through the worlds, but many Disney characters are set to make a return. The story is also said not to progress by going to Disney worlds, but that stories will be progressing. It has also been said that Roxas will have different forms, like Sora, when he enters certain Disney Worlds. Plus, due to Roxas’ personality, he doesn’t actually attempt to interact with the natives of each world. Worlds that have so far been confirmed to appear are: The World That Never Was, Twilight Town, Wonderland, Agrabah, Olympus Coliseum, and Beast's Castle.
