Of a Mud Case, and Old Habits
Se'rox: The Mud Case

Se'rox watched as Zuchax III got her case and brought it back through to the room. When he was out, she closed the portal. She smiled when he mentioned her not needing any clothes- like she was going to run around naked.

"Remind me, sometime, to tell you about what happens when you do run around naked." she said cryptically, and turned to the case. She was able to see what Zuchax III was up to, pulling out his own items of interest. She paused, to "watch" him with his items. The cloak she recognized immediately. Hers she had burnt a long time ago. The shield looked somewhat familiar... something about its composition tugged at her mind. The clipboard held pages. Whatever they contained would be- as most written things were- beyond her. And the bell... the bell was intriguing. And he didn't set that anywhere. Just sat down next to her with it.

She pulled the mud off the case- difficult since the mud was now frozen. But she respected that this room was not really... mud-friendly. She ignored that defect for now. Inside the mud case was a metal case with a lock. Using a little of the mud that had hidden the case, she quickly formed a stick of mud, and pushed it into the keyhole. Knowing how to form it to unlock the case- she could pick almost any lock this way- the release quickly clicked, and Se'rox put the mud stick back on the pile of mud. She'd clean it out of the rug later.

Opening the case, there was, right on top, a colorful silk Kimono. Nealiminity had given it to her long ago. Had said it was a piece of treasure with some kind of magical properties or some such thing. Se'rox picked it out of the case and set it aside on the bed. Under it were four items. One was a gold and diamond ring in a crystal box. That, she set aside straightaway. It was not hers. Also in the case was what looked like a silver metal rod. It was a foot and a half wide and mostly hollow- both ends were hollowed out about six inches in, leaving the last six solid. It was covered in etched runes. Se'rox pulled it out, and her fingers traced the runes fondly. It felt good in her hands. She set it down on the bed as well. She... really didn't know where she would put these things.

Left in the case were two suspiciously simple-looking items, and a pouch of gold coins. Along with the cash there was a thick pen and a small (seemingly empty) jar. She left those there, and then turned to Zuchax III.

"I have clothing. But I wish to buy new things." she told him, referring to his comment before about her not needing anything. Her old things had holes and were quite worn, most of them. And she was done with being a refugee- most of her old clothes reminded her of that. Plus, she had forgotten about her stash of gold. Now she could buy new things. But that wasn't her biggest concern. She needed a place for these items. Hopefully, she would not have to hide them anymore.

She was still curious about his bell, and she doubted he didn't want to know about her things, so she started.

"You seem fond of the bell." Se'rox said simply, and waited for a reply.

Taran: Old habits...

Taran was still working the controls when Creighton said, "When Dragoons meet blood will flow, and as they leave time does slow."

"But tarry not- for none do know, whither dragoons come and go." Taran said right away, barely even aware that Creighton had even spoken, let alone himself. He was still tuning the ship to break atmo, and then trying to set coordinates that would set them close to Dragon's house when they broke back through, without overshooting the target.

Taran looked up suddenly from the controls, as he realized what he'd just heard and responded to. He spun to face Creighton, standing as he did. He was wary yet, but he knew that it was extremely unlikely for this man to know something he should not.

"You-" Taran said, biting back curses. He wasn't sure if he was angry at Creighton- for tricking him into replying, or if he should be put at ease. He certainly didn't feel at ease. Not when he had done so much to protect his identity. He knew it could come out- it had thousands of years before. But that was usually a bad thing.
