That's a device some lycanthropes in R & D created. It stabilizes the body and stimulates the brain when a transformation takes place, allowing an Afflicted to retain the same higher brain function as a Natural Lycanthrope. It also contains the metal shard you had, which mysteriously has tripled your transformation's duration."

"So, the shard's still inside me, eh?"
"Yes, unfortunately, it seems when you removed it, your body became hypothermic. It's taken over the generation of your body heat. The shard acts almost like a parasite; it's really very fascinating... Otherwise, have you noticed any other changes?" I lifted a finger and created a lightning ball, which became enshrouded in flame. "It looks like my electricity has taken on a sub-attribute of fire now." I extinguished it. Palgaro-Sensei scratched his chin and squinted. "Interesting. Well, I should leave now, you need to get some rest so the Lycanthropy Control Apparatus can fully synchronize with your body." He gestured towards Shayra. "Let us leave, Shadow Dancer." he said to her. She nodded and they left the room. I sighed and took another dose of morphine so I could get to sleep.
