I came across a profile on gaia. It was a kid, prime of his life and allegedly brilliant (never met the kid so I can't vouch for him), killed himself almost two years ago.

The fact suicide was mentioned I could relate. Then I found out more about the kid. He had a life much like mine: bullied at school, his artistry unrecognized by a system so threatened by intellect and talent, and the feeling of no way out. Some of you may not know this (in fact, I'm sure most of you don't know this about me), but this is why I try to reach out to kids on here.

I myself was a very suicidal person. To make it short, I was suicidal because of a massive amount of abuse from my family, school, and my boyfriend at that time. I felt so trapped in a world where no one simply cared if I was alive or dead. I felt death was the only way out. Every failure was the extra bit of salt in a festering wound. I was that kid that was isolated both by my choice and by social nonsense. Obviously I wasn't successful, nonetheless I can sympathize.

One day, however, things changed. As I left the sad excuse they call school I realized something: I was free. Free from people who could never even understand the origin of the word quixotic, nor could tell you the difference between stippling and contour sketching, nor read on their age level. Free from the nonsense that my family told me, from constant bruises and goose eggs, and from the name-calling. Free.

Recovering from all of that has been an uphill struggle and will probably always be. But that's not the reason I'm saying all of this. I'm saying this because I want you guys to know I've been there. If you need someone to talk about it, I can lend an ear. If you don't want to talk to me, there are hotlines. But I promise you it gets better.
