Dear Fellow Gaians:
I'm immensely disappointed in you. You assume because someone has a negative opinion about something, a something meant for EVERYONE, which isn't easily accessible is a "whiner" or "crybaby". I have news for you: the prom event is discriminatory.
While sometimes life can't be an even playing field, events which are solely based on coordination and the ability to ignore arrhythmic programmers first and foremost exclude a large portion of handicapped members. In other words, when a significant portion of your members can't participate in a game because of a handicap that IS discrimination. Now, please don't assume the "either-or" fallacy and assume I mean make it easy for everyone. You don't know what's in my head, and moreover it shows your limited intellectual scope.
What I would like to see, instead, are games for an event where those people have a chance of playing as well. Some people have suggested both. Again, the goal is for equal OPPORTUNITY, not equal winnings.
I just find it sad that people are, once again, labeled invalids because a bunch of kids can't understand this concept and judge handicapped people for wanting equal treatment. Part of it I concede may come from the fact I have spent most of my academic career with such people. These people are judged because their body or brain is incapable of one thing, and therefore (in others' eyes), must be incapable of everything. This leads many people to believe they are "unworthy". Unworthy of public restrooms, unworthy of an equal education, unworthy of making their own living, and even unworthy of humane treatment. I have seen (and reported) systematic abuse these people are subjected to on a daily basis.
After some thought given while writing this, I think it may be best to leave you all. Between the consumerism and blatant apathy to true discrimination I don't feel I can ethically support such things by visiting this site.
In Shame,
4shi

Yes, I am on a never-ending search for "the one" pair of pants. Here I shall log my adventures as the lone girl who no longer wishes to feel the breeze in her nether regions.
