Today I learned a little about keeping statistics about reference questions and Interlibrary Loans - important because the Board considers them important. They finally found the right kind of cable to connect the printer to the computer in the reference office, so I attached it and got it working. Then I typed out a "closing procedures for reference" document written by one of the reference librarians - it was difficult to figure out what font and format someone else had used, especially when they had changed some things. I also helped a couple of patrons look for books on pregnancy and guitars.

I spent the rest of my day back in Tech Services. Because the second floor is closed off, they moved several shelves of books from the genealogy room (on the second floor) to empty shelves in Tech Services so that they could be more easily accessible. But they wanted some way to designate within the system which books were downstairs and which books were upstairs. So they decided to put "TS" (for Tech Services) in front of the call number for the books that are in Tech Services. They also decided to put a sticker on the spine (or on the card in the book for the more delicate books with no spine labels). As they had lots of leftover "Do not put in bookdrop" stickers since they no longer use them, those are the stickers that were put on the downstairs books (even though, ironically, those books aren't supposed to be taken out of the library). So I spent the rest of the day looking up each book, changing its call number so that it had "TS" in front of it, and stickering them. Then I reordered them on the shelves, as many of the books had gotten out of order. We have a selection of Ohio Reference and Genealogy books downstairs now as well as all of the yearbooks.
