Stereotypes aren't stupid.

Alright. I'm very sick of the teenagers spewing out the typical, "stereotypes are for losers who have no life. I'M MEEEE, LOOK AT ME, I'M SPESHUL CUZ I DON'T STEREOTYPE!! LOLO UR STOOPID!!!" nonsense.

YOU CANNOT ESCAPE THE STEREOTYPES. EVER.

People who are so anti-conformist call those who consider themselves to fit into a stereotype stupid, close-minded, retards. Those types of people also pride themselves on being unique, open-minded, and basically above the community of stereotypes. That being said, many of those kinds of people also pride themselves on being 'nerds,' 'bookworms,' 'gamers,' and anything that's seen as non-conformist. But, hey, people, guess what?

Those are all stereotypes. Why are they all stereotypes, now? Because they are associated with looking, acting, and being a certain way. That is what a stereotype is. Even adjectives could be considered as a stereotype because it is a word that describes something, whether it be how you look or your personality.

So, for example, by calling yourself crazy, you would imply that you spazz out, and act a little wonky. By calling yourself a bookworm, you would be saying that you enjoy reading, and do it a lot. By calling yourself a nerd, you would be saying that you are smart, and get good grades, and so on, with what is typically associated with those stereotypes.

So then why is calling yourself emo any different? It implies that you are generally very emotional, sometimes depressed, and enjoy a certain style of dark clothing. Calling yourself scene implies that you enjoy bright clothes and poofy hair.

When you think about it, it isn't different at all. Why is calling yourself a nerd, crazy, etc. okay, but calling yourself emo isn't? If it's associated with a piece of what you are, then they aren't conforming to a stereotype, they are saying what they are by using something much more simple than spewing how they aren't the happiest person who likes dark clothing. The word 'emo' is associated with specific things. So is an adjective.

That being said about how calling yourself a nerd is acceptable, my view on it is that it's because being a nerd is cool, but being emo is not. You are calling yourself a stereotype, not something new, unique, and completely special. You aren't unique when you use adjectives (which, in my opinion, are the same things), because others use those adjectives to describe their personality. You are being influenced by those around you, which you seemingly despise when others do it. But, hey, just because you say you aren't conforming, you aren't, right? So calling yourself a stereotype is okay, right? No. No, it's not. We conform and stereotype every single day, no matter who you are.

So really. Stereotypes aren't different than adjectives. You would have to say that you hate all adjectives, too, because it is calling yourself something that is associated with acting or looking a certain way.

MORE ON NON-CONFORMIST CONFORMISTS.

    They typically go like this:

Wears bright clothes in order to be unique. Piles on the makeup to look different. Wears converse to rally against 'prep' clothes. Takes MySpace angle shots to look unique. Attacks anybody who mentions the word stereotype. Acts random and spazzy because they think it is the epicenter of non-conformity. Has to make a point that they don't stereotype and hate it in every conversation. Calls themselves a nerd because they think it's cool and unique. Wears crappy dye-your-wrist-blue jewelry because they refuse to spend a few bucks on the 'snobby, rich people' jewelry, because it's 'only for snobs.' Basically emo and scene stereotypes put together.

That's just one type. There are the more preppy types of that, but all in all, it's basically the same.

SO TO WRAP THIS UP. STOP ACTING LIKE YOU ARE SPECIAL.

Get off your high horses. You aren't better than those who stereotype. You aren't smarter. You aren't more unique. You aren't 'past that crap.' You are conforming yourselves to being what I like to call the 'non-conformist conformists' -- those who rally against stereotypes, those who pride themselves on being oh so unique, those who call those who stereotype retarded pieces of idiot, those who are seemingly 'open-minded,' but can't accept the idea that stereotypes aren't 'wrong,' 'stupid,' 'horrible,' and 'promoting idiocy.'
