To those who ARE protesting Gaia and, specifically, the Cash Shop by donating, you realize you're the problem, right?
Much like our real world economy, Gaia works by getting revenue from its userbase to pay for the following:
- Servers, both of the site itself AND of zOMG!, which is a huge game already.
The artists, developers, and everyone who works at Gaia HQ getting a paycheck.
Electricity bills, of course. I hear Cali's bills for electricity are pretty high...
Other things such as rent and water.
Food bills if they order out occasionally.
All those NERF guns and arts gonk
And I'm sure there's lots more to pay than just that.
And yet, you're adamant on thinking that Gaia is a grubby money whore, who "strayed from its anime roots and catering to more people," which in theory should bring more money for the site by pleasing EVERYONE and not just the uptight elitist bastards and bitches that you all are.
And yet again, Gaia tries to stay free. You don't see ads for Premium accounts; you don't see having to pay 15.99 a month to even log on to Gaia, let alone post and play games and whatnot. They only pump out the EIs not just because they want to cater to everyone's tastes (and your tastes are NOT everyone's tastes, so shut the ******** up right there) but to bring in more money. Aquariums, zOMG! powerups and more, they only want to keep this site afloat.
In comparison to games or places like WoW or big sites like Google, Newgrounds, and others, who have mansions for boats, Gaia only has a tiny orange inflatable boat with nothing but a crate of rations that gets refilled every so often if someone feels generous.
The alternatives?
Well, Gaia could lock out anyone and everyone who wants to join forever or until they have enough fees.
Gaia could become pay-to-play.
Gaia could offer account upgrades to Silver, Gold, Platinum, and even DIAMOND accounts.
Gaia could litter their site in ads and sponsors so they bring in the rest of revenue that the users don't.
Gaia could do all these things. But they didn't.
And you are SO insensitive as to rally AGAINST the very people who try to please you.
You disgusting, worthless pieces of s**t. Your heads are so far up your asses you can see through your goddamn belly button! How DARE you think something like this?! How DARE you try to do something like this?! That's like slapping your mother and kicking her after putting up with you for ~18 years!

Are you jealous? Jealous that, unlike your "hard work" to gain gold, I could just donate to Gaia and get rich very quickly, with little effort? And missy/mister, where do you suppose this money comes from? Out my a**? Pfft, I wish it did; I could have all the EIs I wanted if that were true.
YOU try running a site like Gaia, in this day and age, but as if it were ********, with the growing userbase and the widening interests and demographics it brings.
Try it.
Or shut up and go join some other site who will cater to your needs faster than Gaia with a silver platter and a "Shoot me" target on their ******** chest.
