Nocturnius Libris
Day 2 Cont.
Whew, today has been a very long day. Yesterday when I started writing it was out of boredom. Today, with the sights I've seen I'll need to write this out just to keep my brain from shattering with pure awe. Yes! I can feel my brain now, my whole body feels whole, on all levels, inside and out. Infact as I read this I'm starting to feel hungry...you really dont know what it means to be alive until all signs of it are taken from you.

I dont even know where to start on today's events. So I'll start from the top. I was introduced to angel that would be my guide today. His name was Oligar, he's whats called an Archon. Of course he gave me the usual speech, you could tell it was rehearsed, but then again, he admitted it was rehearsed later. Otherwise it was pretty usual. If I remember correctly it started with...

"First and foremost let me welcome you here...to Heaven. Your self sacrifice has led you here. We understand that the transition might be rough but since your a Hero Citizen, meaning you've either saved the world, or assisted in saving your world at least once...blah blah"

...Or something like that. My memory isnt all that good I was so overwhelmed by the sight of the place. But from what I gathered, my involvment in saving Aria led to my being able to keep this book, my fathers book, and keep my sword. The Nameless, the KageShin...what would Dante say if he knew his sword had been to Heaven?

Thoughts like that still make me a bit sad. But at my heart I am an adventurer, and this...if its true, would be my greatest adventure. In my quest to save Aria we visited "Heaven" once, it was just a trick. And so I had to be sure. I asked Oligar, if this was Heaven, and Heaven is a place where your greatest desires in life are fulfilled...what do I truly want? And how do I get it?

Oligar asked me to hold out my hand. And I did, he pulled his hand from behind his back and placed a Caramel Mach-chicado in it. It wasnt nearly as good as Lucind's...and infact each sip made me think of the look on her face when I pulled away...

Oligar caught that, he asked if I had any questions, and told me that I had all the time in the world with him, to get each of them answered. From the position of the sun it was sometime around noon, but Oligar just left my home a few moments ago and the sun is beginning to set.

First I asked about Him, who was he? I was told what I already knew. I was brought here by Death. I was informed that that wasnt his true name but he's existed for so long that his real name, his original name was lost. I was told that it was truly a unique honor to be visited by Death himself. Almost all Soul Reaping is performed by Reapers. Or as they are more commonly called, Reaper Drones. They're sole goal is the harvesting of souls at the moment of death and then transporting them to their respective after-lives, based on their beliefs in life. Only on rare occasions is reaping performed by Death himself and as you can imagine that immediately left me feeling as tingly as a fleebing child.

Now part of his statement hooked me. In life I never devoted myself to any one god or any faith, so why was I put here? I asked Oligar, and presented me with an analogy, I still have mixed feelings about it, but I accepted it.

On Aria there was no such thing, but on Gaia their are many business at different levels and scales. There are shops on each street corner that are specialized or run on a small scale, and there are larger businesses that are able to expand, and finally corporations that are legally considered to be lives of their own.

At the corporate scale large companies buy in huge bulk and are able to delegate little jobs to the smaller companies and specialized groups. The groups exist together but are in competition of sorts. The afterlife is apparently much the same.

There are small divisions such as Valhalla, Mount Olympus, for each pantheon there comes a new set of beliefs, and for those that have those beliefs there is a new business...or shop. The biggest of these are the ones that are the most believed in. That being Heaven and Hell. 1/3 of the population of some place called Erth believes in this place. Heaven is so large scale that is also able to pick the worthy stranglers like myself, with no system of beliefs.

Valhalla sends Valkrys to pick up its fallen, Heaven is large enough to have outsourced the job to Reapers. The Reapers themselves are a volunteer organization. They transport souls both to Heaven and to Hell, and apparently at the time of most deaths they are the ones to first reap the soul, and then deliver it to the respective afterlife it belongs in.

The Reapers boast an army of over 42 billion, on the living plane once a soul crosses over into the ethereal a giant rift is visible in the sky. The rift is the crossing point to "the other side." I found that particular bit of information mind boggling. For over 4 mile radius, Oligar says there are over a thousand Reapers, and that can grow depending on the population! For instance the average forest is home to several thousand Reapers, for each bug and animal that passes away.

I was told that many people here in Heaven after years of training go on to become Reaper Drones...I dont know what that entails, but I cant understand why anyone would want to leave this place. And I'm so looking forward to meeting Maxine here! But tomorrow is another day. Oligar says we start bright and early with my tour, and so I better get some rest.
