MY BULLDUST JOURNAL
LABEL GOES HERE

Think about it. When was the last time you've labeled someone?

"Oh Em Gee, have you heard about what happened with this guy and the flirt?"
"I flunked Math again. Bet Einstein over there aced it--sigh."
"That airhead always asks stupid questions."

Sounds familiar?
Yup. Rocker, flirt, loser, nerd, geek, airhead, dumb, teacher's pet, b***h... Admit it. You have, in one time or another, been guilty of classifying others with one or more of the given names. It's human nature, after all. If a person does something that would distinct herself or himself from the norm, a spark of controversies and a hefty dose of remarks would indisputably take place, thus giving you the perfect opportunity to inject a label or two. Everyone doest it, even me, whether subconsciously or not.

However in this sheltered habitation we all call High School, labeling gets especially interesting, for the name you'd associate a person isn't a just a facade that compliments the individual's persona. It actually becomes the character of the student--the whole image that everyone would see when they think of that person. (Exceptions though are freely accepted) Get it? Think about this then: if your friend describes her classmate as a "rocker", you can already imagine her as one with those stacked-up black rubber bracelets on both arms, red-green-yellow friendship anklets on each feet and one with a guitar case slung coolly on her side. Or what about a "fashionista" lass? I bet you immediately thought of a cute, perky, boy-crazy, vain girl with a penchant for anything pink and trendy. See what I mean?

Labeling isn't against the law--you won't get jailed for it, but it is serious. What's sad about it is that actually limits the individuality of a person. If you're labeled, people would automatically make assumptions of who you are and how you'll most likely act. Which is (you guessed it) quite depressing. No one wants to be confined to a certain presumptions (which are false most of the time). For instance, what if you hardly use the computer but u still like reading devour books? DOes that automatically mean you're a geek/nerd? My guess is as good as yours.

What's my point? The thing about labeling is basically, well.. labeling! You name people when there are kazillions of other things that that person can be. You bind them and cause them all these nasty emotional mayhem because of your ignorance and insenstivity. And this again, leads us to another thought:

when will you stop labelling, and just start accepting? Think about it.

OIL FI YA

anyway...

A non-australian(i based it upon with the way he spoke) nurse asked my name, and it was really funny because he couldn't get what was I saying. Our conversation was like this:

nurse: What's your name?
Me: Althea
nurse: OPHELIA?
Me: No, ALTHEA
nurse: SOPHIA?
Me: NO. AL-THE-A
nurse: oohh ALTHEA (he imitated the way i spoke, but then he failed because he pronounced my name like this "OIL FI YA" rofl )
Me: Yes! *finally*

guess what?? he did get my name but he spelled it like this: "ULTHEA"
ULTHEA?? wtf right? do i look like an african?

Moral lesson?: Always wear a nametag.
