The Top Hat Pirates
The first three entries are from a story I was writing a while back, and from then on is my history and the history of the Top Hat Pirates.
~Thirteen Years Later~
"Miss Asheill! Miss!" I sat up and rubbed my eyes.

"Huh?" I asked, looking around.

"Miss Asheill, your ship is finished." A man walked up to me and nodded toward the coast. I grinned.

"Whoa, that's awesome! And you got it done in just a couple of weeks! Thanks! How much do I owe you?" I asked him, amazed at how great of a job they did.

"Nothing, miss, remember you paid me in advance." He replied politely. It irritated me that I was being treated like a princess, but I coped. Considering the amount of money I gave him to make the ship, he must think of me as a noblewoman of high importance. My clan sure thought so. Until I was 'killed' for the markings on my arms, the fact that I was the hier was of no importance, surely.

"Ah, I see. Well, thanks again! Hey, how would you like to join my crew as a carpenter?" I offered. His handiwork was great, and if I was going to be a pirate, I'd need a crew.

"Your crew? Surely you don't mean to become a pirate, miss?" He asked. I sighed.

"Of course! Just because I'm a girl, and only thirteen, I can't?" I asked him, not looking for an answer. "Also, don't call me 'miss'." I stood and grabbed my top hat. On it was a pocketwatch and worn ribbon. I placed it on my head and looked toward the ship. "Call me 'Kid'!"

"I'm sorry, miss, I mean...Kid, but I'm afraid I'll have to decline your offer. I cannot stoop so low. Er- I mean...I could not become a pirate..." He bowed his head, so as to sever eye contact.

"Oh well," I said, realizing he wasn't about to change his mind. "Thank you anyway. I suppose I should be going now. Bye!" I said as I walked toward my ship and boarded. I unfurled the sails and let the wind take them.

"Bye!" The man called, almost forced. He and a few other men who were working on the ship grabbed their boxes and tools and walked towards the island's village.

"This is much better than that piece of junk I was in earlier," I said to myself, referring to the small dingy I rode in to get to that island. I thought for a moment. "First things first. I need...a cook!" I said, realizing that I could cook, but if I was running this gig, someone more skilled and experienced should do it. And they probably had yummier things in mind!

Of course, I needed a doctor, a carpenter, a navigator, a swordsman, a marksman, maybe a blacksmith, oh! And an entertainer! Someone who plays music and dances and stuff! I took from my pack a flag. On it was a Jolly Roger with a top hat on it. I placed it on the main mast. "The Top Hat Pirates," I said.
