I am in a Stones mood right now, so really no other band matters.... except Zeppelin.
I was watching the Great Debate that was on VH1 last night. And there was the Stones vs. Beatles for the best band. I was very disappointed when they choose Beatles. I don't count the Beatles as the best rock band ever. IT'S THE STONES b***h. I believe it. I have established them as it.
The Beatles aren't as diverse as the Stones. You can't change my mind. Plus the Stones have more sex appeal than the Beatles. They are rock's first and original bad boys and OTP. They can play all genres of rock. While the Beatles were still doing love songs, the Stones were doing more sexual, darker, blues, songs. The Beatles were still on love songs. Then around late 60's is when they started other things.
To me, the best band is The Rolling Stones. I get a loathing feeling of hate when I see the Beatles at the top. No disrespect to the Beatles, I do like their music, but the band shall be the Stones. They have out lasted EVERY band that forms. They are more diverse than a lot of bands. Even the Beatles.
A lot of the beginning songs sound like cheap love songs, it wasn't till the mid to late 60's is when the came up with better songs. I like that period better. When everything doesn't sound the same. They were the first band, sure, but rock was changed again with the song "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction". That was when music changed forever.
I get tired of seeing them at 1. I just hate it. Sure, they sold more, but that doesn't mean anything. What it's talking about is influence. I just find my self going towards the Stones. If it were the 60's, I would be a Stones girl.
The Beatles were marketed. Without George Martin and EMI, they really wouldn't have made it. They were marketed and were made for appeal. A lot of people really cared more for their looks. Their pop songs. They are pop in the beginning, then drifted toward rock. They did short pop songs. It all sounds the same. The Stones are better. In my opinion. It's so stereo typical when they say Beatles are number one. They all find that people are saying it, then go with it.
A lot of their first songs are pop sounding and are love songs. It''s all the same. To me at least. People that are fans of the Beatles can go at me, but I really don't care.
I think that long haired!Mick Jagger is my favorite Mick. Plus when he is being androgynous also.
Current music is Hot Stuff by The Stones. I was listening to Hey, Negrita earlier. I do like the Black & Blue album.
