“Mon Ange.”
Her emerald eyes were glassy. Tears threatened to fall from them. Auburn hair lightly touched her face, which was up in a low ponytail. Her breathing was heavy, evidence that she was running. Her slender body moved forward, causing Nikole to move backward in nervousness.
“Why are you here?” Nikole’s voice hinted both anger and freight.
Her eyes were cast downward, and no answer sufficed.
“Damnit Amanda, answer me! Why are you here?” Nikole’s voice was rising.
Amanda lifted her head, shocked at the anger in Nikole’s voice.
“Why? Why?!? I came because here because of you! You ******** left me, alone, in Tennessee! Why’d you do that? We had a small fight, and you leave me. Didn’t you not love me anymore? Like, what the hell Brittany?” Nikole’s eyes blazed with anger.
“That was two ******** years ago! Don’t you ever get over anything?” The words stung. They were harsh, something Amanda wouldn’t have expected to come from Nikole. Amanda’s voice was quiet but strong.
“I want to know why you left. I want to know if you still love me…” A tear slipped down her face. Nikole scoffed. Ignoring Amanda’s question, Nikole reached into her pocket and grabbed a pack of cigarettes, which made Amanda’s rage fuel even more.
“I thought you quit using those damn cancer sticks!” Nikole lit one and puffed out a large breath of smoke.
“I thought you quit being a obsessive, needy b***h.” That was too far.
Amanda ran up to Nikole and slapped her across the face, as hard as she can, but even with all her strength put into the hit, it barely did anything to Nikole, only knocked the cigarette out of her mouth and left a nasty red mark on her cheek. People started to gather around them, curious as to what’s going on. More tears sprang to Amanda’s eyes.
“You’ve changed after that day. You’ve changed so much and I don’t like it. I want the old ‘you’ back, the ‘you’ who stood by my side, who was there when I needed you the most, who held me when I needed to be held. Where did the girl I fell in love with go?” Nikole didn’t move nor, did her voice waiver.
“She grew up. She finally faced reality and saw the lies behind everyone’s eyes. She ever saw her own, and she didn’t want her lies to hurt you.” With Nikole turned away, and walked to her car, not caring if Amanda followed.
