"Whaddya mean, overkill?"
Hello, My name is Merci Jagd, and the voice in my head calls itself Insane Mokona. I am a 16 year old Kharmite Female, and am currently occupied as a gunner. I live in the town of Eastvale, and live with my older brother, Kite. Those who know me often describe me as absurd, indecent, crazy, and if they're being rude, a loony maniac who might blow herself up one day by accident.
Here is my story: My mother is an alchemist, and my father is a paladin. But that's a lie! Sometimes, I like to pretend my mother was a mermaid and that my father was a sailor. I don't know who they were or what they did. My brother, Kite, won't tell me! Maybe he once had a family too. All I've known is Kite.
He tells me that when I was a young lass, just barely more than a baby, soldiers came and threatened all the boys in his village to join the army or get killed where they stood. Kite says when they found him in the streets, he randomly grabbed a small child left on someone's doorstep (Me!) and told them, "I'm all my sister has left. Please have mercy; She will perish if I go to fight!". The soldiers relented, and even though we're not related, he felt obligated to take care of me because I ended up saving him from participating in a bloody war (Indeed it was. A 70% casualty rate, to be exact). That's also why my name isn't something pretty like Maria or Beatrix. Merci... I guess it could have been worse!
Kite is really cool. He let me go to workshops even though it was customary for merchant girls to spend their teenage years learning to be graceful and embroider silk and sissy stuff like that. I liked the trinket shop the best; They had gears and springs and weird gizmos everywhere. Only guys could be apprentices, but they let me have spare pieces. They taught me how to make toys and weapons- I think they were astonished when I pieced together a huge shooter. You wanna try it out? I've been needing a new target for a while...
