I've been nominated in the past, but with so many nominees (nearly 700 this year) I didn't think I had a chance of winning...but I did! I won a President's Circle award in the Dedication to Excellence category on Thursday. I now have a lovely award and a medal among other prizes. ^_^
The award ceremony was rather funny. One of the executives was calling out the names of the winners, and the winners from his particular department were to come up one by one to be congratulated and have their picture taken with him. When he called my name, my brain suffered a disconnect. I was so certain that it wasn't possible I'd won that I just sat there, looking around at those around me. My co-worker sitting behind me patted me on the shoulder in congratulations at first, and then upgraded to giving me little shoves and hissing,
"It's you. It's you! Get UP!"
Still, I remained seated, disbelieving, until I saw one of my bosses come around and beckon to me from the aisle. Even then I stopped in front of her and had to ask,
"For real?"
She laughed and shoved me up the aisle where I probably had some really "deer in the headlights" photographs taken and stared at the exec while he congratulated me. I don't remember a single word that came out of his mouth, which is too bad, because people told me that he said some very nice things about me.
Hubby, coincidentally, came down to take me out to lunch that afternoon, which made it even more special of a day. heart I had such good news to tell him!
This is like winning an Emmy or an Oscar. I'm still stunned! I am so blessed to work for Robert Half. It's an honor to work there among such wonderful people. heart
