~I had a random burst of inspiration and wrote this. It's a bit edited from what I actually wrote on paper but it's mainly the same. Let's call this the prologue, because I did write more. Just didn't type it up for ya. Enjoy! ~

"Are you sure?"
"Just do it," the queen said through heavy sobs. There were loud voices and deafening bangs coming from behind the large metal door. The baby the queen was carrying began to cry. The old man saw the look of determintaion - and worry - on her face. He sighed.
"Very well," he said. He raised his arms and muttered something under his breath. A spiraling hole suddenly appeared, as if the air itself had been ripped apart. The spiral was a depthless, inky black. The queen's pendant began to glow, constantly changing colors. Finally it settled on black - as black as the spiral. She ripped it off and put it around her baby's neck. In a blinding light, her long brown hair turned a shocking white; her hard-set face looked drawn and tired, but almost happy. The baby fell asleep, as if it was calmed. The mother, gave her baby one last kiss on the forehead. With every last ounce fo strength she had, she hurled the baby into the spiral. It disappeared.
"Be safe, my daughter," she whispered. The old man rushed forward and caught the falling queen. She was fading fast. "Please, watch over her."
"I will. Please rest in peace," he said. The queen smiled and put her head back. She closed her eyes. A burst of energy came forth and shot out, all around. The banging at the door was gone, but so was the queen. The old man was left alone in the center of the room, in the same inky blackness.
