I gasped, a sharp intake of breath. The large clock in the middle of the city sounded, and something about it seemed familiar. The last time the clock chimed like that...
But perhaps I was just being paranoid. Even after a year, I was still on my toes. The world doesn't work like that. What was I thinking?
I tried to convince myself that everything was alright, it was a happy day. I should be smiling and cheering with the rest of the crowd, enjoying myself. But that knotted feeling in the pit of my stomach wouldn't go away. I knew something was wrong, but what could I do about it? Tears had already begun welling up in my eyes at what I knew was coming.
I bit my knuckle and turned my gaze upwards. I searched the clocktower, looking for anything, but hoping for nothing. A small figured moved, high on the tower. It seemed to be struggling with a large package. Or was it an extra limb? I could hardly make out anything from where I was standing. Whatever it was doing, though, it couldn't be good.
It aimed the extra limb in the direction of the crowd's attention. I quickly looked around me to see if anyone had noticed what was on the clocktower. Everybody was too busy, cheering thier hearts out. Should I run? If I tried to warn everyone, nobody would hear me. I looked up once again at the figure on the clocktower and uttered a small cry. Finally, right before the final chime from the clock, a bang rang through the air. The crowd fell silent as they all veiwed the scene before them.
Ian had been shot.
Panic quickly spread through the crowd like fire being set to an old picture. Some rushed towards the scene, most ran away for fear of being shot themselves. Few, like me, stood frozen to the ground. Screams rang through the air, near me a child was crying. I couldn't help but stare at Ian. Sasha was screaming over his body. Was Ian alright? Or was he already dead? It was impossible to tell through the frenzy.
The crowd around me began to push me in thier frantic attempt to get away. I was soon being carried with the crowd. I looked up at the clocktower, one last time. The figure was already gone. I turned and went with the crowd, silent tears streaming down my face.
... What? >__> Ian's my favorite NPC. And if they killed him off I would strangle VO. D:<
