Yea I haven't posted a new entry in too long even though plenty has happened. I'll start by talking about work and all the people I work with.
I'm still working at Joann's, going on 4 months (probably past it by now) and I seem to be doing a good job.
Karen: The chief, the boss, the top manager of the whole store. When I first started working there it seemed like all the work I did just wasn't god enough. She'd constantly tell me to hurry up, or answer my questions with a sort of.. smiley attitude like "You need to do better mrgreen ". Seemed like a b***h and wondered if she even liked me as an employee. But after about a month and a half, she suddenly gives me praise. I discovered an error with one of the shelves and the way the items were stocked. At the end of the day she says "You're doing a good job, Jamil". I was kind of speechless. Doesn't seem like a big deal but work for somebody who never gives you credit and you'll see how cool it is to FINALLY know you're doing a good job. So any who, now she and I are cool. She's still kind of intimidating, and expects a good job, but not as bad as when I first started working there.
Melissa: She's the next in line MOD (Manager On Duty). She's.... a b***h. Sort of. Her personality outside work is pretty cool. She's a b***h outside work too but is easy enough to get along with seeing as she knows how to joke with an attitude. Now as for during work.. I find her annoying and rude. She'll answer questions for you with a tone or attitude that sort of puts you down as if the answer to your question is obvious. She has little patience for employees or quests. She argues with guests and even Erik (Another MOD). So.. Melissa... blah.
Erik: ERIK! Black guy like 28 years old I think. He's real cool. Him and Antiqua are my favorite MODs. He's into rap and whatnot so it's funny hearing working as he has his MP3 on singing to it. Or on Mondays when the truck is here and were unloading the stuff, he's singing to the radio. He says it helps him work. I figure, what ever works. When him and another MOD are on duty, I look for him to give me a job cause I know he'll put me to stock or work on a project instead of the register where Melissa or Karen put me. If there's no one to work the register at the moment, but there will be, he kicks me off as soon as they get there and put them on register instead (if the other MOD doesn't argue). So yea real cool.
Antiqua: Youngest MOD there (20 Years old, semi older than me). Short little black girl with a sort of.. "spunky"/"tom boy" ish attitude. I just started to like Antiqua recently. I didn't exactly know where I stood with her. She was always cool but seemed like the kind of person who would rat me out if I ******** up, or would scold me if I make a mistake. But one time after work while I was waiting for my ride who wasn't going to be able to get there til an hour or so after because the roads were bad (blizzard), another MOD had called out. The bad news about this is, Antiqua wouldn't be allowed to leave the store to get anything to eat because at least one MOD has to be on duty at all times. I was bored bugging Corine and other employees, and got hungry and figured I could walk to Taco Bell and get Antiqua something while I was there. She was against it because walking long distances (100ft) is like an epic sin to her and some other girls that work there. I call it laziness. Any who, I got her something to eat and BAM i scored points or something cause now shes more cool with me. Before it was kind of awkward, but now she talks to me like she talks to her friends that work there. So yea, Antiqua and Erik are the only MODs I like. Erik is #1, Antiqua #2, and then Karen and then Melissa but if possible, not Melissa at all. (Lucky for me none of them go on Gaia).
