Little Thoughts prt 2
Sleep did not come easily that night for Alec Todd. It could’ve been anything that was keeping him up- though he was pretty sure that the movie was not one of those things. Perhaps it was the sounds of the branches of a great Maple tree scratching against the side of the building, or the constant mumblings of Alice, who was the patient who was suffering from a chronic form of Schizophrenia. Perhaps it was the sounds of Sam and Serena down the hall doing god-knows-what. Maybe Alec’s dinner wasn’t agreeing with his stomach. Alec tried desperately to tell himself that what was keeping him up was any of these things, which even included his constant thoughts of food. Unfortunately, the Boston native knew very well that wasn’t what was keeping him up. No, it was something far more irritating that was keeping him awake. And that thing was the one human who Alec just couldn’t seem to get out of his head, Bryon Leone Mancini. The Italian was still yet to fall asleep, or even feel tired actually. He just sat there on his bed scribbling things down in composition notebooks, then closing the notebooks before opening to re-read what he had just written. Thus, the source of Alec's current frustration was only a bit more than just "clear." Alec rolled onto his side, facing Bryon’s bed from his won that was located between Sam and the little Italian’s for a good reason.

"Do ya evah sleep?" Alec inquired in a rather groggy sounding voice. He was tired as ********, and he couldn’t fall asleep because of Bryon. The Irishman was about ready to go over to the Italian’s bed and just take away Bryon’s things and screw up the light bulb in the small lamp that the younger guard was using. Alec had his pillow pulled over his head, showing the true level of his irritation at the moment.

Bryon looked up from the tattered composition book that sat in front of him upon hearing a question come from an incredibly tired Alec, who was lying in bed with a pillow over his head. Bryon felt bad about this, because he didn't want to be a source of discomfort to either Alec or Sam- though the latter rarely seemed to actually sleep in the room that was assigned to the three-man security team. Sam had better things to do, like make love to his domineering lover, Serena. Bryon didn't seem to have anything against Serena though, or so Alec thought. He just knew all too well of Bryon's thoughts when it came to Sam, but most of the time Bryon was nothing more than an enigma, to himself and everyone around him.

"Umm...Si? Of course I sleep Alec, why the dumb questions all of a sudden?" Bryon went right ahead and made this inquiry to Alec, who was likely to be the next person in line to become the patriarch of Cunningham Hall. If it wasn't for the fact that Samuel was the literal top dog at the current time Bryon would never ask such a question. The Italian was simply far too modest to even begin to be able to ask such a question to Samuel, or even Serena. That was all that Alec really needed to know about the so-called Bryon Mancini.

Alec mentally stabbed himself. Now that he actually thought about it he had just asked a severely stupid question to the younger ‘male.’ Hell, he’d only been Bryon’s pillow about half an hour before. Of course Bryon slept, what the hell was Alec thinking when he asked that? Alec hesitated a moment before responding to his disheveled looking co-worker.
”Ahh…no reason? Fuhget that I evah asked." Alec murmured the response quietly, still ripping his hair out mentally because of his foolishness. But his response probably made Alec sound even dumber than his original question had. Yeah, Alec just wasn’t as bright as he could be sometimes.

Bryon seemed to accept Alec’s question without any problem, and Alec was quite glad about that fact. He didn’t know or even understand how Bryon, who had shown himself to be quite irritable and bitchy when he felt like it was able to simply accept Alec’s bothering sometimes and go completely unaffected by it externally. How Bryon felt about things internally was anyone’s guess though. This was just a bit on the strange side for Alec because he was more than used to being on the receiving end of Bryon’s occasional outbursts. That was because more often than not the second guard was the one that was the cause for said outbursts. For instance, there was one time where Alec had taken the liberty to lock Little Italy out of the guard’s room on a night where the heating in the hallways wasn’t working. But then there were days where Bryon would turn into one of the most horrible, evil, men people that Alec had ever seen for no apparent reason, Those were the times that Bryon Mancini could successfully scare the living daylights out of Alec.

Alec watched his favorite and only inferior as the kid put away his notebook and pulled the heavy dark blue blankets that were on his bed up around his pale body. The kid finally lay down, his soft looking dark brown hair falling all over the white pillow. In all truth the 'boy' looked almost angelic with the way that the moonlight was hitting his pale flesh. It was far too easy for Alec to imagine the younger guard with longer hair that was straight as can be spilling out over the snowy pillow in a wavy, dark cascade. Alec had never really taken the time to notice the beauty of anyone else's body before that wasn't a definite woman. Now he was taking the time to observe because he was curious, and not completely sure if the man in the bed beside his own was actually a man and not a human of the female variety.

The Irishman turned on his side, moving so that he could face Samuel Nixon's usually empty bed. He didn't need Bryon seeing his face at the moment. This was one of the times that Alec found himself to be quite glad that Sam slept in Serena's private room. Alec thought that he was finally going to be able to get some much needed sleep, but upon hearing Bryon's voice that idea changed quite quickly. Alec glanced back at the shy Italian over his shoulder, seeing that his roommate was currently hugging a white pillow to his- or her, chest. "Alec?" the Italian questioned.

"What is it?" the Bostonian asked in a gruff tone which quite clearly showed Alec's annoyance and displeasure at the given moment.

The Italian hugged the pillow even closer to his somewhat womanly body. Actually, somewhat was the wrong word t use in reference to the Italian once what Alec had learned about his ‘friend.’
"Is there something…wrong? If you want I can just move down to the cell block or sleep in the hallway or something." Bryon’s offer was actually quite generous considering how the young ‘man’ would usually act around Alec and Sam.

Alec was absolutely shocked by that question, mostly because Bryon seemed to be able to notice Alec’s particular discomforts at the moment.
"Eh?" The syllable left Alec’s voice in a low grunt-like sound. Alec looked back at the pillow that his roommate was hugging before replying simply. "I’m fine.” Alec said this in a low voice before adding to it. "Just go t’ sleep Lil’ Italy. Just go t’ sleep…" Alec’s voice trailed off slightly before Bryon spoke up once more.

"Buon Notte" Bryon murmured the words out into the silence of the room, nuzzling his face deep into the warmth of the white pillow that he had been holding to his chest for a little while.

"Buon Notte." Alec replied in a low mutter. He was starting to pick up on bits and pieces of Bryon’s native language. He knew just the essential phrases though. ‘Toilet,’ ‘food,’ ‘will you sleep with me?’, and a number of profanities had made their way into Alec’s vocabulary. Sam’s German was a bit harder for Alec to pick up though. He wasn’t too sure about why that was, but Alec would easily attribute that fact to the idea that German was just a guttural sounding language. It just seemed to lack the flow that Italian did. It was quite clear why Alec never took a foreign language class in high school.

After a few minutes the room was almost completely silent, save for the sounds of Bryon and Alec’s own breathing and the hooting of an owl hooting in one of the nearby maple trees. Ah, how beautiful the night could be. The only light that filtered into the room was that from the moon’s silvery glow. After about half an hour of laying there in silence Alec finally managed to drift off into a quiet slumber; one which was bound to last well into the morning hours.

That night Alec dreamt of women with the faces of men. The most beautiful of all was the one with the short dark brown locks and eyes that were as blue as ice.
