WittCon VII was pretty awesome. I got to see some old friends (some of whom are now married or getting married). Sadly I've been out long enough that I didn't really recognize any students, but eh. I played 4th edition for the first time...one of Andy's games, but we surprisingly didn't die. Probably due to the fact that we didn't do what we were supposed to do. It was his fault for making a kobold sorcerer who loved fire (the word "fire" appeared on my character description six times in two short paragraphs) and letting me play him. Setting things on fire is fun (in a gaming context, of course).
Second session I played my friend's ninja board game that he's in the process of making/refining. It went pretty well, although we didn't complete the game, mostly due to Karl's inability to make decisions quickly and wanting to strategize everything (ironically he's the only one who died, and he died twice). Then we had pizza and judged the costume contest, and I talked to a girl who is a senior now but was a freshman back when I was a senior. She's worried about what's going to happen to her after college. I wish I could have been more encouraging...
Third session I played Fellowship of the White Star (kind of a supernatural historical fiction game based on 3.5 D&D) with a bunch of people I didn't know. They were a little crude but generally nice, and we got through the entire thing without me using my weapons at all. I helped everyone clean up and then stayed at my friend's house with a couple of other people. (And the cats Bert and Ernie!)
Next morning we all ate breakfast with my friend and his parents, and the two other friends that were staying over ran around meeting with people for their upcoming wedding. We also played some games on the Wii (100 pin bowling and Mario Party, which I surprisingly won). Due to poor planning, only one other person came with us when we went to Easton to snatch a really fast supper and see How to Train Your Dragon. I hadn't really heard of it, and fortunately the 3D didn't bother me. It was kind of neat, except when it was a little blurry in some places. The story was predictable but cute, and the music was good. The flying scenes were awesome and made me wish I could fly. Then I drove home in the pounding rain.
Today I did laundry and am trying to figure out what else I need to do before I leave again to visit my friend. I finally got my travel information for VISTA, so that's good.
