Seattle
The flying out and the training went pretty well. I met some interesting people, one of whom was also into anime and other geeky things, so she and I hung out a lot outside of the training classes. The hotel was quite classy, and the meals were huge and pretty tasty. I ended up going to a couple of independent bookstores (one of which was exceptionally liberally-minded, which was awesome) and the amazing Seattle Library (10 floors, neon yellow-green escalators, diamond-shaped glass panes). I also roamed the waterfront area. Thanks to the awesome concierge Jean-Paul, we were able to use the hotel's passes to get into the art museum for free. We only had a couple of hours there, and I wish I could have seen more. The only bad thing about the trip was my choice of shoes - my feet were very, very sore as I tromped up and down Seattle's giant hills.
