Memorial Day
Phew, busy day...ended up marching IN the parade (though I just went to see it) with the American Legion ladies and gentlemen and saw the ceremony at the cemetery. The ladies invited me to join the Auxiliary, so I was a little flattered. Then I had to rush back for the band concert - due to roads being blocked off for another parade, we got lost getting there; then we couldn't find any parking and parked a long way away, and because I was stupid and wore the wrong shoes, I got some nasty blisters. Then it started thunderstorming, so we ended up inside and didn't play very much. The whole affair was a little disorganized. Came back, ate some lunch; my sister and her boyfriend went to see his family, and I drove out to an AMVETS open house which was quite a ways a way. It...wasn't what I was expecting. It seemed like a bunch of people that belonged to the AMVETS just sitting around and drinking. Needless to say, I didn't stay long - just dropped off my flyers and talked to a few people and left. Long drive for nothing...
