S.O.Y fanfiction?? Yup.
Normally weird
"Its not that I don't like being weird, but sometimes I wish I could be a little...Less so."
(Before finding out about her powers and meeting the S.O.Y. gang)
Character design and idea by the smexylicious Duckeh.

Throughout the iodine-and-kibble-smelling kennel, an assortment of animals could be heard. Mewls of kittens or cats, dogs barking and snoring (that puggle brought in was quite the loud one of said snorers; ), and an occasional tweet or hiss of some other species rang out when she came in.
"They do this every single time you come in, I swear. You must be one of those...Animal whisperers? No one else has caused such a reaction from them."
"Hah, funny."
Two girls came in, one a bit plump and older than the other by at least 4 years. She had dyed pink hair, and a few piercings. One would say she was a rebel. She would just say its cool. To say in the least, she looked rather out of place-wearing the hospital apron and outfit. She looked a little less than pleased as she put in her ear buds, drowning out a good amount of the noise. "You get the left side with that cranky cat-he hates everyone 'cept you."
The punkish girl looked to the petite-looking girl, who gave a thumbs up.
"Gotcha." Said girl had reddish brown hair, with deep chocolate colored eyes. A freckle or two could be found on the apples of her cheeks. She did a rather odd dance with the broom she was holding, and the pink-haired woman looked at her.
"Wh-What're you doing now, Liz??"
"Getting in the mood." 'Liz' answered back. Her body swayed oddly, and her face was contorted into absolute concentration. "You should try it sometime, Tess. Its really liberating!"
"I don't dance. I mosh."
"Same thing!"
Tess shook her head, turning up her music a little louder as she tended to a rather rambunctious black Labrador. "Its a wonder if you ever get a boyfriend!" Lizzy smiled at Tess, shrugging.
"What can I say? No one's been able to catch my heart!" She winked, and Tess groaned.
"Wait-are you a les?? I can hook you up with a girl, Liz." Tess asked, earning a look from Lizzy.
"Uh...No 'fence but...VAGINAS SCARE ME. Even my own v****a scares me!!"
"I'll take that as a 'no'."
"Right-oOops!" Lizzy dropped her broom, earning a clatter of protest from the ground. The bird sleeping in one of the corner cages became startled, and soon began to chatter incesantly. "Leo!! Calm down, bud!" Lizzy opened the cage, and offered her extended arm for him to perch on. The parrot gladly hopped on, hopping right to her shoulder. "Good Leeeeeooooooooolio!" The parrot squawked in happiness as he heard Lizzy's nickname for him.
Needless to say, the day at the kennel was the usual ruckus. Soon, it was closing time, and the vets and nurses shooed the two out-claiming it was going to get crowded shortly and they didn't want 'inexperienced workers' to get in the way.
"That b***h," Tess growled, jamming her keys into her pocketbook as she took off her apron; "she called us 'inexperienced'! How much bloody diarrhea has she cleaned?? Or how many snakes had she have to feed?? Do you know how much that stupid nurse hates mice?!" Lizzy laughed at her coworker's rant.
"Eh, I'm sure she has to deal with the messy stuff, too." She said as she locked up the kennel. "Ughaaa, its getting so hot outside. I'm going to sweat up a storm!"
"Ew. Hah hah, I can drive and yoooou can't!" Tess waved her keys in front of Lizzy's face, and it scrunched up.
"Well, at least I'm not damaging our environment!"
"Oh yeah, cause you're totally greenified!" 'Greenified' being Tess' term for the whole 'go green' movement.
Lizzy laughed as she unlocked her bike from the bike rack, and waved to Tess. "See you on Monday, Tessaroo~!"
"You too, Liz!" Tess started up her old Ford truck, and drove off with a thumping bass of rock trailing behind.
Liz sighed. There was something bugging her about what Tess said earlier.
"Its a wonder if you ever get a boyfriend!" Harsh words, yes. But that was Tess, and she was sure she didn't really mean it.
But it bugged her alot. Sure, she had...unrequited crushes before-most waaaay out of her league; but even if someone did like her and they became a couple....She didn't even know where to start. Or what to do.
Inexperienced at love? Certainly.
Oblivious to her single-ness? Certainly not.
The girl sighed. She was 18. Both her sisters were with someone. The eldest was married, for cripe's sake! Why was it so easy for them and...Not easy for her?!
Oh yeah.
She was...Weird. She wasn't a frouncy frilly girl, but she wasn't 'one of the boys' either. She was...Just out there. She couldn't help it. She didn't have any mental issues (she had been tested, much to her chagrin) and was quite healthy. It was just....Her. "Its not that...I don't like being weird," she said aloud, pedaling out of the parking lot; "but sometimes I wish...I could be a little less so." She hit a rock, making her teeter on her bike. "And a new bike. I need a new bike!" She cursed loudly, feeling the chain stiffen up on her again. It was a hand-me-down from both sisters, it's once bright red now a dull salmon color. The basket in the front was made out of a nice and shiny metal, but now had mutiple rust spots on it. Needless to say, it was a bit out of shape. A dulled Pokemon card was still somehow attached to the spokes of the front wheel, its clothespin worn and rusted. It still made a flapping sound when hit, but not so much anymore.
Squirtle never looked so sad in her life.
"Guh..." Lizzy panted out, not from out of breath but from the heat-which could be seen radiating off the roadways and sidewalks. Something recently felt heavy in the air-no one seemed to notice it but her-and it was getting worse. It was as if the air was becoming old and stagnant-worn from its travels around the globe and sky. When she mentioned it to her family, they told her that it was just probably stress from the move or the atmosphere. But even when she visited her family, the feeling was still there. It was weird.
But maybe it was just her. Her and her...Weirdness.
And she chalked it up to just that.
Which also left her again wondering about Tess' statement of before.
Would she one day find true love? Or just be a crazy old lady with...40 or some cats?? No, make that raccoons. They were funnier and cuter in her opinion. 40 raccoons.
She still didn't want to be a crazy old lady, though. She wanted a boyfriend, sure. But she guessed either she'd have to wait for the time to come, or give up then and there. Because Heaven knows how hard she tried to get someone to like her-but lets not bring that up. Ohhhh no. Thats one to be left in the diary of her life.
But still...
'Could someone love me for me?' She wondered, as her bike started to act funny again.
A swift kick to the pedals fixed that one-until the next mile when it would start again.
Such is life.
