Royal Capital Denolia – Denolia Castle and Town - The king and queen's family resides here. Denolia has the most powerful influence across the country and has the oldest royal family among all kingdoms. It’s rumored that the palace mechanic, Cid, originated from Giott. One can find airships in Denolia such as grand transporters… Yet it is rumored that the palace mechanic is holding back, purposefully not creating the most wondrous of airships for the Royal Capital. There is a beautiful castle here, though its beauty may be hampered by its austere nature. Recently, Denolia's monarchy has been grabbing for power, causing worry and conflict across the land.
Sinforia - Sinforia Castle and Town - At the risk of breaking into a war with Denolia. The prince of Sinforia is rumored to fancy the princess of Denolia. On one hand, alliance by marriage could avert a war. On the other hand, with two great powers combined, perhaps they might wish to conquer the rest of the land.
Giott - You'll find mechaniks and gunners in Giott. Beautifully crafted artificial limbs can be found here, made from Mythril or Adamantite, though one must bring themselves. It’s in an isolated area, so their clockwork ideas haven’t really spread. It doesn't help that people from other towns think that the residents of Giott are completely cuckoo. Oil-stained residents are common, automatons, both human and chocobo, are here and there, and this town has seen more than a few explosions. Every child of Giott dreams of finding the rumored hidden caches of dynamite and nitro powder, so potent it could crumble half of the kingdom. Though it is supposedly rumor, its worth noting that Denolia has humongous blast walls surrounding all sides of the city with the weak excuse of being there in case of an emergency flood from a far off land.
There are abandoned mines beneath Giott. Some are still open, which coal is harvested from and used to power certain machines, but others have long been closed due to hazards and dangerous obstacle that lurk within such as monsters.
Floating Continent - Where Eidolons, the creatures summoned by summoners, live. Some Eidolons live among humans hidden in caves, live on human populated ground for the heck of it, or have to guard crystals, but most live in this charming town. The Eidolons can speak humans. Some are even shaped like monsters of the ground such as Chocobos, but they'll assure you that there's a difference. Here on the Floating Continent (It's not very huge - It's large enough to fit a modest town and a good-sized library), one can challenge Eidolons to have the right to summon them and even take on the King and Queen of Eidolons for the right to summon them as well. The floating continent is above the wide ocean and not even airships can reach its height. A magic teleporter inside a cave in Eilonwry will bring you to the Floating Continent.
Ineyz (E – neigh – zz) – Ineyz Castle - An abandoned, decrepit castle that is three times bigger than Denolia Castle. Monsters lurk the halls. They say Ineyzan ghosts also haunt the place. It is very old, dating back to the Four Fiends, before the Rift occured. The legend goes that the Ineyzian rulers hungered for power. However, in their haste for war, a curse was laid upon them by the crystal guardians (Different from the Light Warriors. The guardians of the crystals are thought to be monsters) for causing unneeded strife and pain to thousands of innocents. The king, queen, and soldiers were all cursed to rot as they lived. The citizens fled in fear. No one can say whether the king and his wife and army are still lurking there somewhere…
Bahamut's trial involves the party going to Ineyz to find the token of bravery placed within. His hint is that it is within the center.
Eoda – Eoda Castle and Town - Ninjas! There is said to be Eodese spies in every castle, though none can prove it. Those that could never tell the tale. The servants of Eoda castle wear beautiful plum colored yukata patterned with the royal family’s crest. Oddly enough, all of the servants are female. Each and every one is an experienced ninja. You can tell which ones are of higher rank by the numbers of scars they bear proudly on their face from their various missions. Secret passages are everywhere, so long as one knows where to look. Eoda is famous for its luxurious hot springs and exporting of silk cloth that even the royal family of Denolia uses. On the other hand, Eodans are infamous of double-crossing during the Rift and being ambiguous about their alliances and motives.
Radan – Radan Castle and Town - Around the paths of Radan, one must guard their throats and purses. Hidden guilds of bandits and thieves reside in Radan. Poachers as well. A cruel lord lives in a castle here, rumored to work behind the shadows and control the slave trade that takes place in the Vertigon Desert. Needless to say, they aren't too far away from Vertigon Desert and its creaking caravans.
The Enock River, if ridden, leads to an ice cavern. Shiva resides deep insides. You can fight her to gain her as a summon, but you must fight her for the information of where the Water Crystal is. The Enock is an underground river, only accessible by a deep chamber within Radan Castle
The Blessed City Ileth (E- Leth) - Where the Temple of Cosmos is located. It is a modest city, but nonetheless respected. The Light Warriors founded Ileth, and though Denolia is the royal capital, Ileth is the oldest out of all cities and towns. Many of Ileth's residents have a holy profession and temples are common in Ileth.
Eilonwry - The hidden Summoners’ Village. No form of monarchy or bears its influence lives here. After the Rift and the establishment of Denolia, all of the remaining summoners from the war practically exiled themselves so that none may abuse the power of Eidolons so harshly again. It is rumored, almost fact, that not even Eodese ninjas can find their way to Eilonwry. It is said that there are springs in Eilonwry where fairies dances and deep, mysterious lake said to be deeper than the ocean.
St. Marina - A port city near the ocean. Pirates can be found in St. Marina and their ships by the docks. A statue of serene St. Marina lies in the center of town, where gifts of polished coral are placed daily. (Maybe a boat will be required to visit certain towns? Perhaps to Giott.)
Jaht – A town of mages. They don’t take kindly to tourists or visitors, especially knights, so be sure you have something to cure status ailments while you’re there. It is rumored that the elders and residents of Jaht are plotting to move away and start a separate kingdom from Denolia’s influence. Jaht located near the foot of Mt. Nenele. One must cross Vertigon Desert to reach Jaht.
Wyvern Isles - Several islands that boats can't reach due to the lack of ports and abundance of dragons. The dragons actually aren't very hostile. They speak the language of humans and were rather fond of them before the Rift occurred. Now, they are mostly cautious, though they will take you to Bahamut if one wishes to undergo a trial. If you can't take to the sea, nor reach them by land, then the only solution is...
Mt. Nenele (Neh-Neh-Lee)
The legend goes that there used to be a monstrous beast that killed the residents of Jaht every few months. Saint Ele, descendant of Serah, the white mage of the original four Light Warriors, took matters into her own hands and went to confront the monster that dared to harm her beloved friends and family.
They say that she had a dear companion, Nen, who was a mysterious mystic knight that concealed his face with scarlet scarves. He had stumbled into the village one day with horrible magic wounds, but this earned the distrust of all of the natives. Saint Ele was the only one who did not fear him, and she tended to his injuries. Their bond was stronger than fire-forged mythril, but he could not convince her to abandon her attempt at soothing the beast of the mountain.
When she did not return, everyone assumed that the young Ele willingly sacrificed herself to the beast that lurks within. It certainly never bothered anyone anymore, and was not heard from for hundreds of years. None were courageous enough to enter the fiery mountain and check. Nen had disappeared, and no one else in Jaht cared enough for him to look into it.
In honor of their dear saint and her kindness in tending to those that even the elders distrusted, they named the mountain after their dear saint and her love: Nenele.
Ele was a fiery young lass who was immensely kind and passionate to all. In reality, she discovered that Nen was the monster, a beast who could take on human form. He was the guardian of the fire crystal, yet in his loneliness, he took life in order to fill the emptiness he felt. He promised to never harm another life so long as Ele stayed with him, and she consented.
Ultimately, her death came when she sacrificed her life’s essence to sustain the weakening fire crystal. Though she loved Nen dearly, being a descendant of a warrior of light, it was her responsibility. In his grief, the guardian shed his human form and never left the side of the fire crystal.
In recent times, however... They say he stirs once more, as all of the guardians do, feeling the disruption of balance caused by humans.
Vertigon Desert - The sands shift in rapidly different ways, blown haphazardly by the wild winds that never seem to die down. Wander too deeply and you may start to think right is left and that skywards is the way to the ground. Oh, yes; Beware the sandworms...
