Arnath's Journal
Chapter 13 - Untouchable
Arnath ran through the Untouchable Forest with great speed, Sifl only being a few feet in front of him. They had been running for a few minutes now, Sifl turning his head to look at his opponent every few moments, smiling to himself each time. With an incredible burst of speed, Sifl ran forward, dashing in between the trees. Soon, when Sifl could not be seen anymore, Arnath slowed down. He stopped next to a tree wondering where Sifl had ran off to, when suddonly a bullet hit the tree. A man confronted him, stepping around the tree from which he had stood next to.

"Damn," he said. "I won't miss this time." Holstering his gun, the man immediately drew a blade and swung at Arnath with intentions to hit. In response, Arnath drew his own blade, the DiamondEdge, to defend himself.

"What are you doing?" Arnath yelled. After his effective block, the man attacked profusely, Arnath trying to reason with him through words. "Why are you trying to kill me?" he demanded.

The man explained little, only that he was given the job of destroying Arnath. "I'm was sent to make sure of your demise," he said. "This could be quite fun." Again he persisted with a swing of his sword. Arnath pushed forward, forcing the man through some small, light bushes into an open area. Behind him was a precipice of fallen ground. The man was pushed further back to the edge of the cliff.

Noticing that below was a pit of acid, Arnath now desperately tried to reason with the man. "I don't want to hurt you," he said. "Please, come to reason. You're in no position to say you can become victorious."

The man looked angrily at Arnath, his face beaming with evil intention and greed. He must've wanted whatever reward was offered to him so blindly, that he would jeopardize his life for it. He thrust himself forward, swinging at Arnath's neck. Arnath quickly raised his DiamondEdge in defense, blocking the blow and spinning the man's own blade from his grip. It flew out of reach, while the man stood for a moment, contemplating what course of action to take.

"Go back to the one who sent you," Arnath said. "And tell him I am dead. If he asks where your sword is, reply that a goblin stole it when you made camp. If he asks where my head is, reply that my body was incinerated." Arnath turned his back to the man, expecting him to do as he told.

"Foolish," the man said. He ran at Arnath, allowing a dagger to fall from his sleeve. Raising the dagger to make the kill, Arnath turned and sent the DiamondEdge through the man's chest. Withdrawing it, Arnath turned once again, only to be stabbed in the back of his right knee. The man had fallen to his knees, but inflicted the small blade within his leg. Somehow he stood, another dagger escaping from his opposite sleeve. On the ground from the wound, Arnath used his good leg to kick the man in the gut as he attempted once again to make his kill. He stumbled backward as Arnath jumped painfully to his feet. Clearly angered himself, Arnath threw a punch as the man's bleeding chest. Three more punches were sent to the area, followed by a kick to the side and an elbow to the side of his head. His left palm swung around to hit him in the chest, and Arnath shook his body violently. With a final burst of energy, Arnath hit the man twice in the head, thrice in the sides, thrice in the gut, and an ending kick to the chest, which sent the man flying over the edge of the pit.

"No," Arnath said, instantly realizing that the man was about to die. He darted forward grabbing the man's right arm as he fell. He was practically unconscious, but his eyes focused on Arnath.

"Y-you must," the man said. His left arm swung up to grab Arnath's neck. "...Die!" Arnath let go, and the man fell to his inevitable doom. "H-help me," he cried as he sank into the acidic pit. Arnath's eyes turned away, and he felt a surge of different emotions through his heart.

Sifl ran out from the trees, having heard the commotion though a bit too late to have prevented what had occured. "What...just happened?" he said.
