"Vash!" I called to my bo'sun. The Sparrow was seaworthy once more, the the entire crew was ondeck. I'd even gone down to the brig and let Rex out. He'd sobered up enough.
"Yeah, Jaquie?" Vash called back.
"Set the ship toward the Apocalypse. I'd like t' talk t' her captain."
"Right you are, luv!"
I turned to face the open sea and leaned on the fo'c'sle.
"Now..." I smirked, "...show me that horizon."

Arthur Bluebeard was watching the Sparrow from the quarterdeck of the Apocalypse. He saw Jaqueline's smirk through his spyglass and thought it was meant for him.
"Aw, blazin' barnacles!" he swore, "Mr. Starky!" he yelled, "Untie the pris'ner and chain her in the brig! Company's comin'!"
The firstmate hurried to the mizzenmast and grabbed the little girl tied there. He led her, at swordpoint, below to the brig.

With Vash's steady hand at the helm, the Sparrow was quickly closing the gap between us and the Apocalypse. Before we'd gone half the distance from Tortuga, however, the Apocalypse weighed anchor and sailed to the east.
"Full speed ahead! Let out the starboard sails!" I barked not wanting to lose the dark ship. There was a good westerly wind, and we soon caught up enough that I could see the faces of Bluebeard's crew. Then they sped up.
"Quit runnin'! I jus' wanna talk t' yer captain!" I yelled, but the Apocalypse didn't give up an inch of her lead. "Damned bleeders," I muttered in annoyance.
"Want I should put on some more speed, darlin'?" Vash asked.
"Can the Sparrow take it if ya do?"
"Aye, she can take it."
"Put on jus' 'nough speed so's I can hop 'cross."
As we sped up, I backed up till my back was up against the quarterdeck and ran across the foredeck, leaping over the prow and pushing off the bowsprit. I arced through the air, high over both ships, and landed lightly in a crouch on the foredeck of the Apocalypse. I was immediately surrounded by Bluebeard's mangy crew and their swordpoints and gun muzzles.
