I did it...after half a year, I have completed the United States Air Force Basic Military Training and I completed tech school for Armament training. I've received 31 credits, and I am now promoted from an Airman Basic (E-1) to an Airman 1st Class (E-3). (Pay raise: HUA!)
Basic training was the hardest thing I've EVER done in my life. I cried everyday, but I got through it. I missed my family so much. I cried so hard when they came to my graduation. I never cried so much. During basic I didn't eat much, worked out a lot, shot M-16's, wore heavy 40lb equipment, high crawled a HUGE football-length hill, lived outdoors in tents, marched, kitchen duty, worked on cleaning/fixing our wall lockers, got yelled at A LOT, lacked sleep, never got to call my parents much, and thrown into a dorm with 40 other testy girls. (Showering together was awkward at first, lol.) I am proud to have completed the 8-9 weeks. I started basic on November 16, 2010, and I graduated January 14, 2011.
Tech school was much better. I had a dorm room with only 1 roommate, I got to get on the computer, call my parents, and hang out with friends. I had to study a lot though to learn how to load live missiles/rockets/nuclear bombs to F-16 aircrafts. I also had to learn know the cockpit switches, how to fix bomb racks, and making sure the aircraft is safe to use. I started tech school on January 17, 2011, and I graduated May 5, 2011.
I am now heading home to relax for 22 days. I'm hoping to see my old friends, and to visit my teachers from high school. After that, I am off to Las Vegas, Nevada to my first duty station~Nice. Only bad thing about being based in Nevada is that my base gets deployed A LOT. xO Ugh, oh well.
I am proud to say I've completed the hardest obstacle in my life, have school credits, I have a job which pays well, and I did this in only 6 months. I can't wait to see what else I can accomplish.
