I'm getting pretty good at drinking coffee, though I still have to use lots of sugar and (flavored) creamer in it.
It was good to see some friends from college, though no one from my class was there. Thor was a pretty good movie, although I was looking at it more from a mythological standpoint, as I know nothing about the comic book version. It was fairly easy to see where things were going (oh look, a light-haired boy and a dark-haired boy...let me guess, one's the hero and one's the villain, and it won't take any more guesses to determine which one is which). Then we all went out to eat, and later we had a bonfire, which was full of burning goodness. Also s'mores.
Then I had to be up early the next morning to go with my parents to meet my sister and her boyfriend for breakfast and a visit to the M. C. Escher exhibit, which was AWESOME. It was really neat to see his prints full size and up close. I don't have the mind to understand them, much less to create something like that, but it was really neat to see. It was also good to see my sister again. When we got back, my parents and I watched The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. I was both looking forward to and dreading seeing it, as it's my favorite of the Narnia books. They did a fairly decent job with it - the changes weren't completely awful, and they did an okay job of keeping everyone in character. I was worried they weren't going to let Reepicheep sail off the edge of the world, but they did, and it was tear-jerkingly awesome. I still don't think it was quite as good as the other movies...the soundtrack was a little lacking. The CGI on the dragon was good, though...odd that they left him a dragon so long, but I guess it made sense with their plot. I hope they make The Silver Chair into a movie, as after Reepicheep, Puddleglum is one of my favorite characters ever.
Today was Mother's Day, so my mother's side of the family went out to eat and exchanged presents and cards. My aunt seemed very touched that I got her a card (she doesn't have any kids). Then we went over to my dad's side and saw my grandparents, aunt, cousin, and her kid, who's not even two yet but looks like he ought to be three. It was nice to see family, but I'm glad to be back in my apartment relaxing a bit before I have to work tomorrow.
