Lately I've been watching a lot of wedding shows on TLC. Four Weddings, Say Yes to the Dress (and it's plus-size variation, Big Bliss!), and tomorrow night My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding! I love them all! heart
I never really thought about my wedding until I saw all these shows. Now mind you, I'm not going out of my way to get married JUST so I can have a wedding, that's just silly. I'm also not going to rush into a marriage, because honestly I think that couples who date for less than a year before getting married are FAR more likely to fail, no matter how in love they are when they marry. Of course, there are exceptions, but that's exactly what they are... exceptions. Couples that marry after a couple months and actually last for more than a few years are VERY lucky.
So, if I never find Mr. Right, then so be it. Nonetheless, I have two siblings (a twin sister and an 11-year-old little brother), so chances are at least one of them is going to get married!! I'd love it if my sister got married, so then I could help her choose a dress and help plan her wedding. smile (I'm also counting on her to have kids, since I'd like to travel a lot so kids are out of the question unless I end up with a totally different career than my desired one!)
After shamelessly fantasizing about it, I've decided I'd like to have either a Swan Lake or Alice in Wonderland-themed wedding. In either wedding, I'd VERY much love to get a wedding dress from one of BABY's bridal sets (I can actually fit into them now!! I'm SO excited about it!). If I can't get one of those, I think it'd be very cool to have an untraditional wedding dress-- preferably something in pink, or maybe a rococo-style pastel dress? heart I'm not sure how my fiance would feel about that, though xD
If I were to have a Swan Lake wedding, I'd like to have it at a castle by a lake (there's actually a venue like that nearby that does weddings!), in mid-late spring. The actual wedding would be outside, by the lake. All the decorations would be white, with white roses and feathers and chairs... heart It'd be a decent size wedding, but not too big! For the first dance, I'd love to dance to something from the actual ballet, though of course I wouldn't force my poor husband to perform ballet... we'd just do a traditional slow dance, set to the music. xD I'd also like to have an ice sculpture of a swan, but that would be very expensive.
For the Alice wedding, I think a similar venue to the castle would be nice, but I really feel like it'd be nice to have a small wedding near a tea room for cocktail hour! Of course, the cake would have to be Alice-themed, with card suits and bunnies decorating the sides. Maybe the cake toppers could be my husband and I dressed as Alice and the Mad Hatter, or something like that? heart I feel like twisted tea would be an appropriate drink for the adult guests, and red Shirley Temples for children, reminiscent of the Queen of Hearts. The colors for the wedding would have to be red/black/white!
Weddings are so nice. I'd really like to attend one soon, but unfortunately all my close friends and family are a bit too young/old to get married >.> I can't wait until they are though!!
