My backlog is... well... big. It may even be ridiculously so. I have realized that I need to really get to work on it since some of the devices said games are on are, well, borderline obsolete. So, to encourage my tackling this issue, I have made a list. To make it even more fun, I gave the list a cute name. It will be my Summer Hit List (of Justice!).
What is on this list? Well, it starts with the Tales series. I don't think I've ever finished a Tales game. I want to say I got really far in Phantasia, once upon a time. I was also playing Star Ocean then. Sad to say, the two are a little muddled together in my memory. I have since finished Star Ocean thanks to the PSP release. The GBA release of Phantasia is not as nice as the SNES one I played once upon a time, but it's what I've got. I found my file, figured out where I was in the game (not too far), and have continued on only to learn that I seem to have it on either hard or mania difficulty. Earning that Berserker title helped me to see that I really hadn't lost my mind, the enemies were more difficult than I remembered. It's okay, though. I'm up for the challenge. I'll just be doing some grinding.
So, I plan on tackling the Tales series. Phantasia, Destiny, Destiny 2 (which is really Eternia here), Symphonia (both of them), Abyss, Vesperia, Legendia, Graces f, and Xillia. It would be pretty neat if I happened to get this all done prior to Xillia's release. I won't hold my breath, to be honest. Especially now that I've learned Symphonia is getting HD re-release treatment. I might just play that one twice. I also have to see if my brother still has his copy of Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology. It might be nice to play. I'll see what he has to say about it.
Next up will be Atelier Ayesha. I love the Atelier series. This one has been sitting in a stack, waiting to be played, because I wanted to finish some games first. (Fire Emblem Awakening was awesome, by the way.) I'm tempted to put Mana Khemia 2 on the list after Ayesha since they are kinda sorta in the same vein. I remember starting that one up and quitting since I hadn't gotten all of the endings from the first one. >.>; I know. I have since rectified that. I also wondered if any save file data would carry over/have perks. A gamefaqs search probably would have answered that question...
If I stick to the list I have written up, the Grandia series will come next. I have a Grandia save... somewhere. Whether or not I remember what's going on in said file is a whole 'nother story. Wild Arms follows with Hoshigami and Nightmare of Druaga: Fushigi no Dungeon finishing the list. For now. There are still loads more games waiting to be played. Baby steps.
I finished Wild Arms on the PSX, but have since started playing Alter Code F. I was really sad that Zed's theme wasn't the same. If I remember correctly, I'm pretty far in that playthrough. It was neat to learn that my Alter Code F save data would get me some stuff when I (finally) play Wild Arms... 4? Something to look forward to.
So, I have my list. Hopefully, I will be able to stick to it and enjoy some games I've been holding off on playing. I also hope that the PS2 lives through this, as most of the games will be played on it. Maybe I'll even do some journal entries as I cross things off my list. Could be fun. We'll see. I'll try to do those entries when I'm not tired. I really feel like I'm letting you down with the writing today.
Well, laundry calls. Then gaming. Take care!
