Hello! I've recently become a member of the newly formed "Profile community" here on Gaia. Those in the community love to visit, and create, lovely profiles. And I am no different. I love designing new profiles that will knock the socks off of anyone with eyes. smile
But even though people are excited about this new medium on Gaia, there are a few things that have been bothering me, from an "a**l designer" point of view.
Gaia is not the first encounter I've had with CSS and graphics. I've been designing websites for over six years and I'm a second year student at the Alberta College of Art and Design with a major in Visual Communications and currently working my way towards my bachelor in Design and Illustration.
Yea, so I know what I'm talkin' about.
The first thing that has been bothering me? Compatability. I've seen many profiles sport warnings against using Firefox or IE to view their profile. Why not make your profile accessable to both browsers? Firefox is a popular browser, and it should be disregarded simply because you "can't code for it". It's not that difficult and in the long run you'll be glad that you did.
