Rose landed in Chazu's front yard, and smiled at a little black-haired toddler playing out front.
"Hi." she said, not really sure what to say.
The girl smiled at her and kept playing, so Rose went up to the house.
Knocking on the door, it was a few moments before a strange man opened the door. He looked quite... impressive. Feeling suddenly embarrassed for barging in on Chazu's house this way, Rose second-guessed coming here. But there was something in the man's face...
"Um, hi. I'm rose. I'm one of Chazu's friends. Is he here?"
The man raised one eyebrow, and was about to speak when I saw Raina out of the corner of my eye.
"Hi Raina!" Rose called out.
She turned her head and smiled, but kept walking. She looked very busy.
The man in the doorway mumbled something, and opened the door all the way. Rose slipped in, and smiled at him.
She saw it again, at that moment. He was worried about something. It was strange, ever since she learned all that she was, she had unlocked many powers and perceptions. One such perception was to catch on to unusual nuances in people.
Puzzled, Rose walked further into the house. Raina had gone right back into the lab, shutting and locking a door behind her. Rose glimpsed movement into a corner that dissolved into a goth-looking boy of about ten. He smiled at her darkly, and it was obvious he was trying to scare her. Just to see if he could, it seemed.
Rose laughed. She was, after all, one quarter demon. True, she looked more like fancy prey, with her wings and her fox-tail, but she was not scared of a little boy.
Rose went into the lab, and saw the door Raina had locked. She was about to knock on it, when she saw Chazu. In a tube of water.
Even though it looked serious, Rose had to try not to laugh.
"Hi Chazu!" she said happily, though it was hard to tell if it was happy to see him, or trying-not-to-laugh happy.
