A Journey Of A Thousand Miles Begins With But One Step.
The Old One - VII
From then The Old One told of living a very long time alone and to a small degree isolated in his world of cobbled together junk.

In his Den-Pool over time was made more comfortable, as he scavenged a few rugs and floor mat from houses and buildings in the area to cover the wooden boards that made up the floor, mats to place at the entrance to keep mud and litter from tracking into his new home.

In time he had made a water boiler that sat beside his stove that took the radiant heat of touching the stove while it was lit to boil and make water safe to drink with the addition of a long length of PVC plastic conduit pipe the water would easily refill and pour a trickle of water into his water boiler from the nearby river as he had it seal where pressure from the water would push it up to the water boiler.

Only during winter times would he need to gather water if the pipe end froze close or water feel below the end of the pipe.

He also told of finding a suitable sleeping bag and pillow from several houses he made bedding from liken to a round pad or nest in his Den-Pool though he would not fully need it till winter came, though he was prepared.

Lastly he had been finding and scrounging what food he could, though at length he began a garden. In it he began with a few apples he plant picked from trees down in the neighborhood which turns out had been a small farm, he also found seeds in a few houses from beans, squash and tomates along with a portion of fish he could catch from the river with his crude fishing line made from a stripped nylon clothing strap and a few hooks made from soda can tabs hehad managed.
