whee Chapter 1
Welcome to Ytik Naitramme! My name is Ezibeth, and i will be your guide throughout Ytik, as we learn about the many adventures about the residents here. In this chapter, I will tell you a few basic facts about Ytik, covering the land, the people, the language, and the religion. If you want to, you can skip this chapter and go on to the first adventure, and turn back to this chapter when you don't understand something and need an explanation.
The Land
Ytik Naitramme has land on many planets, including Earth. We currently have residents of Ytik in Granite Grave, a small series of uncharted islands a few miled off the coast of southern Canada. There people live in caves made of granite, and make almost everything out of seaweed, sand, and rock. Everything else is ordered from Ytic, which we'll get to later. The currency is seaglass, so if you are out of a job, you can simply search for seaglass along the shore.
We also inhabit the planet now called Ytic Naitram. It is very small, only a few hundred miles in diameter. Because of this, it is not seen from Earth, even though it is in the solar system right next to Earth's, and it can get only about 20 million miles away from Earth. It is almost completely flat, with a few hills scattered around the planet. The highest peak is only 5,000 feet above sea level.
Very recently, Naitramesians have populated what is possibly the smallest galaxy in existence, containing only 7 stars, each with their own solar syatem of 5 planets, all very very small. This is now called the galaxy of YiN, the i just their to make it a pronouncable word. Each planet has its own characteristics, which aren't very important, so we won't discuss them right now.
The People
The people of Ytik are generally very religious, and love nature. Ytik is known for its many gardens and forests and such. Naitramesians (residents of Ytik Naitramme) are greatly hurt if an animal runs away from them. They try to make peace with everything.
Of course, some people aren't like that at all, and would most likely hate living in Ytik. So, when babies are born, they are screened by a wooden comtraption that is supposedly controled by the gods, that tells if the child is a true Naitramesian. If they're not, they are sent to Earth as an orphan, where they are adopted, and hopefully live a happier life than they would in Ytik.
The Language
Almost everybody in Ytik speaks the language of Sirbak. Through school, they also commonly learn popular Earth languages such as English and Spanish, sometimes French.
The language of Sirbak originated at Granite Grave, to distance the people from Earth. Slowly it developed, and by the time we inhabited Ytic Naitram, it was a full language, and the children growing up learned to speak it. Throughout this collection of stories, we will have a few little snippets of Sirbak, all of which I will explain.
The Religion
In Ytik, we make a big deal out of tolerating all religions, but the main religion of Ytik is called Noijel. It is a form of polytheism. We beleive that here is a god for everything, since it would be impossible for 1 god to control everything.
We meet every week, and pray to the gods and such, and talk about our beleifs, for everyone Noijel has slightly different beleifs about the gods. It is impossible to pray to every single god in a short period of time. Most people go their whole lives missing some of the gods. People just pray to the gods that are important to them. So everyone that is Noijel is Noijel in a slightly different way than everyone else.
