I was prescribed paxil by my doctor to treat some mild anxiety at the end of my senior year in high school. I no longer needed the drug, so I weened myself off of it the best I could. I was fine for a few days, but the next thing I knew I was in paxil hell.
Imagine if suddenly you started to experience this:
- intense insomnia
- extraordinarily vivid dreams
- intense fear of losing your sanity
-memory and concentration problems
- Panic Attacks
- severe mood swings, esp. heightened irritability / anger.
- suicidal thoughts
- an unconventional dizziness/ vertigo
- the feeling of shocks, similar to mild electric one, running the length of your body
- an unsteady gait
- slurred speech
- headaches
- profuse sweating at night
- muscle cramps
- blurred vision
- breaking out in tears.
- decreased appetite
- nausea
- chills/ hot flashes
- tingling sensation in cheeks, lips, tongue and surrounding areas.
-I Bolded the ones that occur the most often.-
Well as you could imagine I was really freaked out by these sudden symptoms, I thought I was dying. lol
I really did.
I didn't see what could be wrong with me, I searched and searched the web trying to find information, only to come across withdrawal symptoms of antidepressants and how they are confused with more serious illness.
I must say I was very relieved, but even so, it did not stop the hellish symptoms, I'm even experiencing them now as I type this.
All I have to say is, if your doctor wants to put you on an anti depressant, please, please! Don't let them put you on paxil!
The withdrawal is worse (at least in my case) than what you are being treated for! gonk
